Quoting: NyamiouSorry but even if this is true, piracy is popular today because of a deeper problem where people more and more try to profit from society as much as they can while not being willing to do anything for it. The way it affect video game sales is irrevelant because in the end that is a dangerous behavior that we have to stop from becoming more popular to protect the fundations of our societies.
Or you could say that the old buisness practises should be modernized to comply with this modern day and age and modern technology.
How long has the industry been moaning about piracy? My whole life! ever seen the video "don't copy that floppy" ? that's from the year I was born. 1992 over 25 years ago, if piracy was really such a big problem, then why isn't the music industry already bankrupt?

other example: "home taping is killing music".

Quoting: NyamiouI can certainly understand them, piracy is a real problem and they want to do something about it, but that's not the way. Actually the whole war on piracy never fixed anything, it most probably made it worse, as long as they can't change the mindset of pirates the problem is never going to go away and this is not helping.
well.. actually, an EU report stated that piracy isn't a problem at all:
https://thenextweb.com/eu/2017/09/21/eu-paid-report-concluded-piracy-isnt-harmful-tried-hide-findings/#.tnw_f90lLQ56 [External Link]
On the contrary, in the case of video games, the study found the opposite link, indicating a positive influence of illegal game downloads on legal sales.
so as for video games: long live piracy!

these type of games are very popular in Japan and Asia but unfortunately most people here the world only exists of the USA...
The same problem occurs with competitive puzzle games who see no fanbase outside of asia.

Survival Racer 'Distance' Is Now More Awesome With The 'Revamped Reality' Update
7 Oct 2015 at 7:38 pm UTC

this is one of the games I pre-ordered. I know there is a high stance here against pre-ordering but let me explain:
First of all: when distance hit kickstarter I already knew these guys from nitronic-rush which was a school assignment of them so they already have proven themselves that they can make great games!
secondly: this wasn't a pre-order from some big company, it was from a few students who just graduated, I pre-ordered the game for $15,- but I actually wanted to say: Make something great, please follow your dream!
In the end I didn't regret it at all, this is how pre-ordering culture should develop! It should only be there to support new game developers and get them started!
