Quoting: GuestPlatformers... so hard to make (just) a Top 5...
I'm sure i'm missing something here; in no particular order:
Turrican (all of them - Amiga), Leander (Amiga),james pond - Robocod (Amiga), New Zeland story (Arcade) ,Toki (Arcade), and to stay "in topic", Gost'n Goblins (Arcade), Wonderboy (Arcade)
Or if you're proper old school... ;-)

Citadel, Quest, Plan B/Plan B II, Shark (forgotten classic!), Codename: Droid etc.

Quoting: robvvOoh! Looks like just my cup of tea, with the platforming and old-school feel :-)
Did you try "Alwa's Awakening"?

Wants to accomplish the very same, but does it way better imho.
(Judging from the video above, ofc.)
I have it in my library but have not properly played it yet. It got lost in my collection of 'to be played' :-) I must make some time to play it.

I've been playing Underworld Ascendant quite a lot over the last few days. Very well optimised and it runs well on my system (AMD FX-9370, 16Gb RAM, GTX 970).
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen runs well through Proton and is another game I've got quite into.

Finally, Knightin'+ 'cos it's good fun with old school pixel action :-)

We are also patching Ion Fury ASAP to remove all unacceptable language.
I've played through the EA release, though I haven't yet fired up the completed game. Makes me wonder what the above statement refers to as I wasn't aware of any particularly insensitive language within the game?

The developer of Streets of Rogue recently commented about supporting Linux

Slightly OT, but the website the developer is talking about is renowned for actively injecting their Windows packages with their own custom DLLs. So it's *really* not recommended downloading from that site!

This is a really professional-looking indie game, and the dev is active on reddit. Give him your money :-)

The Steam reviews are talking about ~30min gameplay at the moment. Might leave it to become a little more developed, though the price is good!

Cecconoid, an 8-bit inspired "flick-screen" twin-stick-shooter that looks awesome is coming to Linux

This is looking good and I'm having serious pangs of 80s nostalgia :-)

Space Haven Alpha 2 released, you can now build a fleet of ships

Looks very interesting. I take it this is not the same Bug-Byte who were behind Plan B and Plan B2? ;-)
