Quoting: FirehawkeApparently someone in the community has managed to get it working on the Retroid Pocket 5 as well, so long as you're running a Linux distro (e.g. Rocknix) on it.

Indeed awesome, I can't wait to get mine.

Super excited after seeing how well it handles X86 games through winlator!

I agree with all that you said, and even with your sentence i just quoted up there, because it's obvious, but it's also obvious that is a principle that cannot be used as a justification.

Oh my, oh my, oh my.

I'm just figuring it with great disgust, and that kinda surprises myself, because when I was younger I always was by the part of the AIs (lt. Data my fav.)

It has to be the misuse we're doing out of it.

It is like gambling and collecting as a hobby for me, so thanks, but no thanks.

Too many games already and no time to even try them all.

Better focusing on the one I know I like and spending the time just playing it.

Quoting: JarmerWhen is Microsoft forcing the windows 11 upgrade and abandoning 10? I think it's soon right? Every time there's some article on like ars technica or similar, there's always a ton of comments that go "fine I'll just switch to linux then" but of course that's just a lot of talk. I wonder if whenever that date is, if we actually DO see a measurable uptick in linux usage because people's totally 100% fine computers running windows 10 aren't "supported" anymore.
Anecdotal evidence, but my uncle does computer repairs and mentioned something about Windows 11 being free for a year and then you have to pay a yearly subscription? With the spying stuff added to it as well, he says he’s already been switching a few people to Linux because of it, as well as all of his own rigs, which surprised me since he’s pretty keen to play MMOs and recent releases. I guess he’s gotten lucky with the games he’s into with regards to what anticheat they use.

Isn't that limited to business licenses?

Quoting: kokoko3kThe title led me to expect a rise in SteamOS Holo usage.
However, the data shows a -0.28% decrease.
Is this a mistake or am I interpreting it incorrectly?
It is correct. The point of the title is that the Steam Deck is what's still pushing the Linux number up.

While "SteamOS Holo 64bit" is the first OS on the Steam chart, we should not forget that the other 63%+ of the Linux Steam usage polled by comes from other distros.

Writing this because I think they deserve a mention too ;)

...because some time ago, when I expressed my concerns about the extensive and almost exclusive use of game engines like Unity and Unreal, the most frequent response was that it was fine because it allowed anyone, even those who didn’t know how to program, to develop games.
The engine takes care of the programming to a certain extent, you add the graphics and audio, and everyone is happy.

Now, the extensive use of AI for image generation seems to be perceived differently, but the principle remains the same: you handle the programming and audio while paying relatively little attention to the graphical aspect, yet... not everyone is happy.

I want to spend my time with something a human has made. I want to somehow "interact" with that human (these humans). I want to consume art, and I don't feel a generation tool can produce something that has earned the term "art" - even if I probably cannot tell the difference in many cases! -, because it cannot "talk" to me about life.

Yes, you could create art with help of AI probably. I'd always search for the mistakes AI makes, spoiling the fun.

BTW, I just played Stray. Wow.

Don't get me wrong,
I don't like it either, and I totally agree with you.
I also think that programming itself is an art as well; I spend time and have a lot of fun just watching demos from scene.org or browsing shadertoy, so the more the use of a single game engine, the less the fun for me.
There is also the "issue" that most games made with the same engine has a fingerprint probably due to the reuse of stock shaders (mainly Unreal).

I've have to admit that procedurally generated levels put myself on the borderline :)

The game engine does not make the game for you.

Sure, I never stated it does.
