I would be psyched but Steam reviews mention a nasty online DRM for single player, lulz.

Yeah, I see their future logic a mile away:
1) oh crap, we are losing player numbers, better release linux now
2) Linux port flops
3) Argh, guys, there is no money here! Windows FTW!
Yeah, they should just drop it.

Seeing the weird benchmarks on higher end card seems like the CPU is the actual bottle-neck?
In theory this game is just begging for Vulkan.

I assume this game is still unplayable with a GT 500 series card? Looking at GFLOPS, my chip barely reaches minimum requirements.

Quoting: neowiz73How about a source?Quoting: minjthis has been mentioned in the various talks and presentations by the Khronos Group and certain developers that have already had some experience with the API.Quoting: neowiz73while in development doing a benchmark won't do any good because with the development layers in place Vulkan operates much like OpenGL does on a normal basis. you may see some increases once it's more optimized. you won't see full potential until the development layers are removed from the Vulkan development build, which is when it will be officially released.Where did you get the idea that they actually ship with those layers on? I would think it would be common sense to disable them even if it's a beta. I'd wager you wouldn't get 20FPS out of it if that was the case.
BTW the game has not "shipped" it is in BETA.

Still on my first game, Earth ofc, 80h and counting lol. Sector GUI is indeed rubbish. Actually had 1 CTD in it. A few other glitches as well, all but one fixed with a reload.
Easy mode? What?! It's been a walk so far. Perhaps due to powerful friends, *shrugs* Otherwise, it seems the estimated strength meter is a bit off: I kept to myself for far too long instead of beating the crap out of everyone. Then again, I did not piss off any fallen empires, duh. I am looking forward to taking one on soon as I am getting close with not all stats 'overwhelming' any more.
Hint: integrating vassals is cool and all but takes forever if they have many planets.
As a side note, I hate hyperlane enemies, next FTL I'm using for sure.
What's this I hear about another Human civ? How do you find/liberate one?
So, anyone battled the AI yet?
