Steam sees a big rise in Simplified Chinese for February 2025 bringing Linux down below 2%

We seriously need to get China on board with Linux. Don't they even have their own distro? You'd think not having a US company spy on their data would be a serious selling point.

Steam Subscriber Agreement updated for disputes removing the need for individual arbitration

Quoting: GamingTFMI was wondering about this as some kinda 'scam' or fake message at first, so I came to the net to see what was up.
Lol, yeah, mine popped up while I was web browsing (with Steam running in the background) so I was *deeply* suspicious at first. Not a great look, Valve.

Steam Next Fest - June 2024 edition is live with lots and lots of demos

While none of these specific games appeal to me, I do appreciate Steam helping to bring back the concept of the demo.

Yes, Mint has integrated Flatpak updates into its update manager.

>>The new update brings with it a rotating featured banner

Ugh, I hate rotating banners. Nothing on the page should move unless I clicked on it. I hope they at least have the sense to make all the banners the same height, so the whole page doesn't jog up and down as they cycle.

Check out tactical dice-rolling roguelike combat in Slice & Dice

Uuuuugh, I was hoping for a sucessor to Dicey Dungeon, instead we get yet another roguelike where the art direction is "make it look like a super-muddy 90s game".

Dear roguelike devs: you are *allowed* to make your games attractive. Bright colors, high resolutions, it's all on the table.

They really did it - Valve added Dwarf as an official Steam tag

This would cool if there was a snowflake's chance in hell of it being applied correctly. I stopped looking at Steam tags years ago, they're absolutely meaningless and often veer into rage-stroke-inducing territory.

Core Keeper getting a new event, plus various new features on January 31st

Quoting: HeroOfDermwoodNot sure what you mean by "time limited event". The event lasts for a couple of weeks based on your PC date.
You give the defintion right there. New content should be permanent, not switched on and off by date. If this particular game has a toggle to override the date limits, great, objection withdrawn as far as it's concerned. But most games with events don't have that. You scramble to finish the content within the arbitrary window or you miss out entirely. And since most devs have limited time to spend on making new content, it's better spent on what all players can enjoy, not just that subset that happens to be binging the game during a specific fortnight.
