Some thoughts on Demise of Nations, a 4X strategy game

What a luxury that we can compare 4X games with even bigger ones from Firaxis and Paradox. A perfect illustration that we are entering a golden age of Linux gaming.

Valve limit key requests from developers if it isn't "worth the cost"

Until now Valve was perfectly fine if developers sold keys elsewhere for lower prices than on Steam. They also don't request commission for keys sold elsewhere. I think this statement should be interpreted as "we are good, but not crazy": If the sales on Steam and generated keys is completely of out balance, yes, then there probably is something wrong and they need to reconsider the merit to have that game on Steam. They still don't say they will remove such games, just that they reconsider. IMO totally reasonable.

Football Manager 2018 release date announced with Linux support once again

SEGA is definitely one of the top Linux game publishers. Still playing 2015 (no point buying each year), but definately a good title to have on Linux.

What games do you want ported to Linux? Feral Interactive want to know again
14 Aug 2017 at 7:42 am UTC

Bioshock Remastered is the same engine as Bioshock Infinite, right? So in that case Virtual Programming would be best suited to do the port. Feral would need to re-invent the wheel, i.e. make much more costs, and therefore the economic viability of such a port would be worse than when VP would do it.

Going to throw some money into Steam again... money talks :)

If anything, Windows is a legacy operating system...

Wow, that is a surprise, I played the original many years ago, but I didn't know the franchise was still going.

Open source game engine for Morrowind 'OpenMW' to gain 'Distant terrain' in the next release

Quoting: rafebelmontThanks for that. Is there a way to see if a game on Steam is DRM-free? I usually only buy games on sale these days, you see, I would buy more often for the full price (not Bethesda games anyway), but having a baby at home with a low budget does not allow it :)
Unfurtunately there is no way you can see in the Steam store wether a game is using DRM, I believe Valve do this intentionally. Asking in the forums seems to be the best way to find out.

Quoting: rafebelmontThat is good to read. I didn't know this, i will be sure to try this way when I get Morrowind since I prefer to buy DRM-free Windows only games.
FYI: It is DRM free on Steam as well. You can install it then on Linux with steamcmd.

Buy it on sale at the cheapest place you can find, no need to reward Bethessa for not supporting Linux.

... and Morrowind is by far the better game compared to its successors. Yes, Oblivion and Skyrim are not on Linux, but Morrowind is, and you can play it like nobody did before. Combined with some other community upgrades (which OpenMW supports in an excellent way), it is fantastic.
