there are still locations that will end up causing the RAM use to spike up to about 14.1GB drop the FPS down to basically nothing and completely lock up the Steam Deck

Used to happen on my desktop as well on my old video card. You have to make sure to keep the texture size to minimum to prevent that. Still, the game should free the unused RAM.

(Overall I am happy it is Verified, even though there are still problems)

And make sure you keep it set to keyboard and mouse with the in-game settings, otherwise it gets confused and just doesn't seem to work when in a battle.

I assume setting Joystick as enabled in-game did not do the trick? I will look into it...

A group of players in the r/smite discord made a big impact on this change

This is a big win and it proves to never lose the hope & keep asking (politely) developers for Proton or Linux support.
