Unity deprecating built-in XR (VR/AR etc) support for a new plugin system - Valve doing their own for SteamVR
28 Jan 2020 at 2:01 pm UTC

I was worried for a second because there really is no working OpenXR solution for Linux yet. But it appears that they will keep the OpenVR support (in deprecated state) until Valve adds their own plugin into the XR framework.

Have an Intel processor? Enjoy two more vulnerabilities

The vulnerabilities get a surprising amount of press compared to the risk they pose for the average person. I know just enough to realise that there is no reason to worry about these issues for any of my use cases and they I can even safely turn off all the mitigations. It does make me wonder how many people actually think that their computer might get hacked from these problems.

Quoting: PhiladelphusFor those of us who can't easily do conversions from UTC in our heads, would it be possible in future articles to include a little widget or a link to somewhere than can do the time zone conversions? That'd be a nice quality-of-life addition. :)
In firefox I can just select it and do right click -> search google to give me the local time.

I'm still on the beta version and I still sometimes get library freezes. It's not as common as earlier, but it's still weird.

Feral Interactive are asking what you want ported to Linux again
21 Jan 2020 at 10:27 am UTC

Quoting: SalvatosWell holy shit, if Horizon:Zero Dawn is coming to Steam [External Link] I definitely want Feral to port it now!
Agreed. For many reasons! Even though I've seen the entire game on live stream, I'd still pay full price to Feral for a Linux port without blinking. The game is that good. Feral ports are fantastic. But most importantly, it would be a different source than where Feral currently ports from. And that's something I would like to see more than any specific game.
