The End of the Sun is a Slavic fantasy time-travel adventure out now

I tried the demo of this game way back and it needed a lot of work. It was kind of clunky and performance was atrocious. Sounds like performance is still not great, but since the game sounded kind of interesting I may have a look.

Collabora take over libsurvive development an open source VR lighthouse tracking system

Due to the degrading functionality of SteamVR, I've been running open source solutions for the past month. Monado has been running great for OpenXR games with higher framerates and smoother operation than SteamVR ever has. It's using the proprietary drivers from SteamVR for the lighthouses because libsurvive accuracy is just not there yet. Hopefully this move will help.

Running OpenVR games using OpenComposite (to translate OpenVR into OpenXR) is a bit of a hit or miss. Some games work great, but a lot have issues or fail to run entirely.

Relaxed factory automation sim Learning Factory 1.0 is out now

Gave it a thumbs down and refund in the beginning of the EA period. It couldn't deal with ultrawide displays and it was impossible to rebind keys making it unplayable. Bought it again this year and everything has been fixed or added, so good on the devs. Weird game. That's not a bad thing, but with my reflexes going to regular factory games it was a little weird and then Satisfactory and Factorio gave us major updates so I left it. I'll give it a proper go sometime soon though!

PlayStation Network requirement on PC will now be optional with in-game rewards

I guess someone crunched the numbers and found that it was taking away too much of the potential market. A reduction of the number of blacklist titles this time.

Is Ghost of Tsushima losing the PSN requirements too? Or did it sell too well for them to care?
Wasn't that one always optional?

Looks very Day of the Tentacle. That may come with some high expectations though.

NVIDIA release new GPU driver updates for Linux and Windows after announcing security issues

I guess this means that drivers 555 and up are not affected. Don't see any word about those.

Impressive colony building sim Songs of Syx is getting ready to leave Early Access with a big new Beta

The "problem" with this game is that there is so much to figure out that it represents a big time investment. So far I haven't really gotten into it far enough to say if it's worth it. But maybe I'll give it a serious attempt this year now that it's closer to final release.

NTSYNC driver for improving Windows games on Linux with Wine / Proton should finally land in Linux kernel 6.14
14 Jan 2025 at 9:44 am UTC

Something trying to imitate external(Windows) behavior still runs in the kernel.
Something will try to access an edge case and render the entire thing catatonic.
That applies to everything in the kernel and therefore every piece of software. There's a reason why these patches take so long to be accepted in the mainline kernel.

Can 2025 please be the year more games add Text and UI Scaling

Some devs really can't bother with accessibility features. That's why I reward those (in my case without key rebinding options) with a refund.

The Programming Games Humble Bundle is another sweet deal worth grabbing

First time that I actually own (and played) every game in the bundle. So the bundle must be good! Although not sure Learning Factory really fits in with the other games.
