The best Linux distributions for gaming in 2026

Happy Fedora User since well over 20 years now. It's a distribution that is not often mentioned like some off the other distributions, but it is worth a look. I have to disagree that NVIDIA user should avoid it. If you're using Linux since a month, you're installing the drivers quite fast from RPMFusion. But I really like the "opt-in" in Fedora to make it an active decision to choose it, instead of being one day suprised. It's really not much more than adding a repo and using the installer.

NVIDIA driver had been problematic with wayland, so even as a fanboy I switched to AMD GPU and its running amazingly well. Especially with modern games and being performant as well.

That Fedora was took over by IBM and their policy with AI is worring me a bit that things might chance. But the team does have a great bargain collected over the years, so'll I keep trust in their work... and still being on guard.

Happy birthday! Its a long time and gaming on Linux was different back then. Nowadays we are having smooth AAA titles running nearly without issues after a release and not forced to play tux racer all days anymore :D Keep up the good work!

Extremly nice news. I really enjoyed their past ports and really looking forward to this title. Clearly one port I will pay full money price for it. Feral is really a gift for us linux gamers!

Many thanks to the Feral team for this amazing port. Whoever likes action games should really give it a try as it is way better than I had expected. The story is not complex anyways, but it plays like a mixture of Indiana Jones and Assasin Creed.

Running it on an older system, I was assuming that some of the low FPS in cutscenes would be caused by this. In general I had about 2 crashs over the whole game, the rest of the time it was working flawless. For about 30-40 hours of playtime, I consider this pretty well for a AAA title.

I agree. Its working pretty nice over the weekend and is quite enjoyable. Depending on the settings it can be either rather relaxing or become extremly difficult. If I would complaint about something, it is the dome handling. Having some real transportation system between the domes, would be pretty nice. Why do I have to send each habitant via shuttle one by one. It might work, if you at least could send all of a specific skill at once.
