Friendly reminder that Snap is not free software due vendor lock-in (its sole package repository is proprietary).

So whatever Canonical decides to do with their base Snap OS is pretty irrelevant for the general linux ecosystem.

Do you really need the third party ftp server?

I mean the old ftp protocol is insecure and I wouldn't recommend it at all.

If you want to use midnight commander and assuming you've got ssh setup on your deck, you can just add your alias to .ssh/config and then just run mc and connect using "sftp link" and type the alias for example, it'll then connect over ssh as opposed to the old ftp in a much more secure way.

I really don't recommend old style FTP servers, always use SSH where available. Old FTP transfers your login details in plain text and can be broken into easily.

Nice you mention. Usermode FTP Server supports all FTP, FTPS and SFTP, defaults to FTPS and shows a warning when using the plain old FTP.

Its main point is you need a client like FileZilla to use SFTP outside UNIX-like systems, but you can use pretty much any file browser for FTPS (including Windows Explorer).

I love my Steam Controller, and I miss its round touchpads on the Deck (specially for the touch menu functionality).

But having a dedicated DPAD was definitely an improvement so not complaining.

Chinese companies, regardless of their size or reach, usually have a whole different concept of copyright infringement, so zero surprises here.

Just keep in mind they're on a whole different legal framework than western countries in this regarding, for me is YouTube who should be providing proper mechanisms to report these things for content creators and not just for big corporations and their greedy interests.

Even with those shiny Xe graphics outperforming the amusingly outdated AMD iGPU proposition, having an overheating Frankenstein of a CPU is the exact opposite of what I want on my next laptop.

Stadia, where you pay full retail price to rent games until they shut down, and where an expensive subscription gives you trials and 30 cheap games (which between old, bad, and indie ones, are worth of 20 bucks as a whole on sale).

Still not getting their value proposition against using your own games in services like shadow.tech
