The game appeared on my Steam Library but it's 0 bytes in file size. I suppose the actual game can be installed later on?

So far I'm going to stick with Ubuntu 16.04 with Cinnamon. Every now and then I'm thinking of moving permanently to Mint but as far as I know games are mostly optimized to run on Ubuntu. I'm not sure if all the games I have would run as well on Mint as they do on Ubuntu (or would they run at all?!). Hence the Ubuntu + Cinnamon combination of mine. Works great on Dirt Rally ;)

Quoting: saildataDo you plan on moving to Gnome when Ubuntu proper switches over, or are you sticking with Cinnamon? No problem! I was a bit surprised to see someone quoting my 2 month old comment :D
EDIT: Sorry! I looked up and saw your comment -- didn't realize it was 2 months old : / I'll double check next time!

So yeah, I was wondering when the game got announced for Linux if my oldish PC could run it. I had Dirt Rally on Windows already but I hated dual booting just to play one game...
My computer specs: i3 Dual core 3,3 Ghz, GT 520 GPU (1GB RAM), 10 GB RAM. So my specs are wayyy below the minimum specs. But the game runs on lowest settings quite well; I was surprised to see when I used the ingame benchmark tool to notice that the average FPS runs around 40 FPS!
So well done Feral! No more dual booting for me :) . Only problem I've had is that I couldn't bring my career save (30 hours in) to Linux version, apparently due to some version incompatibility.

Pardon my noobish question but I have Ubuntu 16.04 and the game requires 16.10. Is there a chance I could run the game on 16.04? I don't feel like upgrading my perfectly working OS because of one game...

This is great! I have been waiting for this announcement for a long time. No longer do I have to dual boot to my Windows partition in order to play Dirt Rally :) . My only concern is that the Linux system requirements might be too much for my computer (dual core i3 processor, low level Nvidia GPU card). At the moment this game only runs on my computer with all details set to low or very low (and this is on Windows).
Well, maybe this is the perfect excuse for me to buy and build a new computer :D
