Well, it took some time but at least BI noticed there is something like Linux. :D
A3 is more more optimized than A2 ever was and I managed to play A2 under wine using OSS radeon, so maybe one day I won't need to reboot each time. Bright future unless I get hit by bus tomorrow. :D

Arma 3 Showing Small Signs Of A Linux Version

This is the only game (and trying out Kingdom Come alpha) for which I restart to Win, so I'm all for it. But I highly doubt they will make Linux version. They invested heavily into their DX11 based renderer and AFAIK removed OpenGL backend they once had in A2. Maybe if Valve is pushing them Vulcan way...

I tried it a few hours ago and it worked rather nicely. I tried only tutorial so far. Only issue I had was with map rotation using mouse. It was extremely sensitive and sometimes freezes the game for a few seconds.

Quoting: Quote from JoeIs gameplay fun? I can only find reviews for the mobile version, where they mostly complain about missions taking too long for mobile playing but also that it's often not possible to tell if a soldier is in cover properly. Has the latter been addressed for the Linux release?
There is definitely an issue with telling if soldier is in cover. I don't know for missions taking too long as I'm in the middle of the first one, but this one seems to take quite a time to finish. Also note that achievements currently does not work.

I don't think so. Nothing about D3D command stream in git log.

I can't compare to Windows version but this thing runs great even on open radeon drivers (r600, mesa 9.2, kernel 3.10.5). Though I have it set on medium settings IIRC (autodetected, I just briefly looked at them, no experimenting so far).

John Carmack of id software chimes in on Wine gaming

I like wine and how it expands possibilities. However I also like the idea, that wine is sort of last resort. I'm all for improving wine, but I'm strongly against advertising it as preferred solution.

Funny how thinking about wine produce so opposite reactions. Maybe I should just start drinking :D

Can't wait for this. Even though I don't usually play truck sims. :D
Very positive interview!
