Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark, a turn-based tactical RPG will support Linux, has a demo and it's on Kickstarter

So it's not just me, then. As far as I'm concerned they don't even need idle animations, just use static sprites when they're not supposed to be in motion...

The Cyanide & Happiness Adventure Game is officially coming to Linux

Considering that Linux was a stretch goal from the start of the campaign, and the first port in line for funding, I didn't feel too nervous about their intent to really make one, unlike some campaigns where it's added mid-campaign in a "oh yeah we could make a Linux version too" kind of way. So I backed it and we'll see. At worst I can just ask for a refund.

There's absolutely no point in pre-ordering, especially when using digital distribution such as Steam. It doesn't benefit you as a consumer one bit and it's always risky.

Sadly too late for that now.
Pre-orders , season pass (basically DLC Pre-order) , microtransactions in full price games , loot crates etc.
These things are becoming more and more ubiquitous and people are getting used to them. If you call them out you look like the bad guy.

I'm resolute to be cynical and watch the world burn :P

You are right, people just get used to this tactics. You don't even get the whole game on release. Because there is many missing things, that are added like DLC and the price is sometimes higher than the original game. The picture bellow is sadly accurate.
Frankly I don't think I understand why people still buy games at release. Between game-breaking bugs and day-1 patches, public release serving as additional playtesting, free content updates and paid DLCs released in a matter of weeks, it's almost like trying to watch a movie before they finish printing the DVD. For all its convenience, the Internet as a marketplace and content delivery medium has made the gaming industry lazy with quality control and complacent in its ability to keep extracting money from people in small doses. Then, for us, you have the added risk of unplayable or delayed Linux versions making me extra wary.

Between that, attractive discounts that always come within a year and already having a backlog of games, the only games I've gotten day-1 in recent memory are those I have crowdfunded.

Some thoughts on Pankapu, a 2D action-platformer with metroidvania elements

This game immediately caught my eye back then on Kickstarter with its art style and I wasn't surprised to see the developers were former Ankama employees. Ultimately I didn't back because I'm not that into platformers, but it's nice to see they managed to do something good and pulled through with Linux support.

Unsung Story, a game previously funded by Kickstarter has started again under a new developer

Quoting: TheSHEEEPWith such a troubled development, the game will be great!

Right?

Because all games with a troubled development turn out to be all the better for it...
You never know I suppose, Slain turned out nicely after the original developer released a mess and another developer took over and re-released it a few months later. I don't know either of the companies involved here, but if they're starting from scratch, the quality of the game will depend on the new developer's talent and whatever happened up to this point doesn't seem like it will matter much.

Quoting: Avehicle7887Despite this game's 2 years old now, I bet many Linux users would buy it if it was ported.

No. That's the problem - the Linux users who want to play Witcher 3 have already bought it, and would want the Linux port "for free".
I do want to play it, but why would I buy a game I can't play?

Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth released with day-1 Linux support, it’s fantastic

I only skimmed through the descriptions but that does look good. I've no money for crowdfunding at the moment but by the time it comes out I may want to buy it :)

My problem is that since I've completely ditched Windows I don't even look at game releases that aren't announced for Linux, so I don't know what to request. Except for Horizon Zero Dawn and that's not gonna happen.

I'd like them to port some of the professional software that's popular in my industry and costing me jobs because I can't use it on Linux

Awesome looking fighting game 'Blade Symphony' looks like it's coming to Linux

Not a game I expected to ever see on Linux. Not my type either, but glad to see more options being made available to us :)
