Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Linux Beta Due Soon! (UPDATED)

While this probably won't get regular Windows users to switch to Linux, it sure will get a big chunk of dual-booters to commit. Last I checked on Steam Static this was one of the top ten games with currently active players. Now in fact the majority of those top ten games do run on Linux.

Gauntlet Linux Version Delayed For Steam Machines

Regarding supporting Steam OS, do not over think it. These developers and publishers do not know what we know. They most likely just feel more comfortable and familiar with a single platform/OS to test on and support. If you think about it, it is the exact same thing as GOG only officially supporting Ubuntu and Mint.

The only negative thing here is if they mess up with the Steam Runtime or something similar. Then, when you have issues with missing libraries it is suddenly okay, since they never supported anything else. This would of course bite them with future Steam OS updates, especially if they decide to go with image based upgrades.

Btw here is another little thing to make you all happier. If there was to be an OS X version, would now be delayed :)

New Steam Store, Lots Of New Stuff

The only acceptable answer I will take for listing PC as an OS is if people in general have no idea what Windows is. But even then, it should state platform instead of "OS".

In any case, it is just wrong. They should be setting an example and instead educate those who do not know better.

Reflex, A Potential Successor For Quake Going To Kickstarter

Little history on the developers, Windows only initially, new engine (with no technical details), and of course crowd-funding. Seems like a risky thing to back for a Linux user...

I mean had they at least used Unreal 4 I would feel safe. Which begs to question, why was that not an option? One would think that would do the job and the graphics.

The Dead Island Linux Port Is Not Being Done By The Orginal Developers

Okay, since still nobody else have said it, I will. I downloaded the game (missing executable), several weeks ago.

I cannot confirm anything, but the files you get look a lot like the ones you get with the eON wrapped The Witcher 2. I think we can quite safely assume that they let VP do it for Linux when they did it for Mac.

A Linux Port Of Terraria Will Soon Be Looked At, Hooray

Since it started as an XNA game I syre hope they decide to use FNA. The last thing I want is a poor port with no SDL2 and other unnecessary problems.

Mount & Blade: Warband Out Of Beta For Linux, Free All Weekend & Thoughts

Quoting: STiAT
Quoting: GuestEdit: they have included a couple of Qt4 libs with the game now, but the config tool needs “libaudio.so.2”, whatever that is. That lib is not in any Arch package.
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages [External Link]/?O=0&K=libaudio2
You need the 32-bit versions of any lib since the game is 32-bit. That package is way out of date in AUR.

To fix it you can download the package from Ubuntu or Debian and extract the library in the gamedir.

The launcher needs quite a few weird 32-bit packages that for some reason is not linked to the Steam runtime.

The devs even said one reason for only making a Steam release was that libaudio2 was not in the repos. So I assume it is supposed to be in the runtime or gamedir, but it is not. Thus it fails to start.
