Lutris 0.5.13 Beta adds Proton support, itch.io integration, Battle.net integration

Quoting: NanobangTL;DR: I dislike Lutris.

The one design flaw I've found in all these launcher/wine manager projects is that all of Wine's fiddly bits---at best---can be challenging for Wine neophytes like me. I like that Lutris tries to deal with this via "runners," but I've never been able to sort out how to make it do what it's supposed to be doing, always found the overall design of Lutris's user interface too maddeningly inscrutable.

I really tried to get into Wine gaming and I ran into a lot of what you're talking about. The ONLY time I had a smooth wine experience was on the forums of GOG where someone was making wrappers for some games. While they were smooth and worked 100% it was for games I don't really enjoy.

Hmm I don't like launchers but my itch.io library is quite large. Maybe this will give me more of an incentive to check out other titles I already got.

Zoom Platform, a store aimed at 'Generation X' adds more Linux support
4 Feb 2023 at 4:43 pm UTC

I like that store. I got a bunch of games on there they gave out for free. Most of them are on Windows and I don't Wine so not much for me to play but I did install 'A Boy and His Blob' awhile back and gave it a spin. Not bad but not my cup of tea.

I currently support this site (not at the level that allows a badge but I give what I can), Internet Archive, itch.io, ReDream and Wikipedia.

From time to time I add an extra tip for free games on itch.io like Puppygames Baskingstoke. My wife plays that a lot.

What I want to see in 2023 for Linux, Gaming, Steam Deck and more
5 Jan 2023 at 11:48 pm UTC

I hope for more DRM-FREE linux binary games with local MP support. I only play with ppl I know. We had some great drops like Streets of Rage 4, Battle Axe, Hunt Down and Final Vendetta which was great but some more of that would be nice.

The final free game during the GOG Winter Sale is Daymare: 1998

Quoting: poiuzYou're joking, right? You are explicitly going into a GOG exclusive news just to whine. You don't contribute one bit to a constructive discussion.
This trend in the Linux gaming space is extremely off putting. Makes me stay further away for things like Steam since it seems to be causing mental disorders. Any store that sell linux games without a client can get my coin.

I enjoy cloud gaming but I wonder where the line is drawn with this stuff. I often play a few rounds of surviv.io sometimes solo but often with some friends for a squad. It use to be called browser based gaming but shouldn't it be also called cloud gaming?

I'm also enjoying Jam.gg during the few times a month certain friends and family pop on and want to play something on it.

Both are free with no sub.

Top-down PvPvE Battle Royale game Gene Shift Auto now free to play on Steam
1 Dec 2022 at 2:28 am UTC

Quoting: Liam Dawe
Quoting: b4lvBut it's been free to play for years. The only change here is the game's name.
It was not. It's been a paid game for years, but you got the DLC free when you bought it. The developer mentioned many times it was going free, and they did a few giveaways previously. You can see easily on SteamDB going back years how much it cost: https://steamdb.info/app/308600/ [External Link]
Gene Shift Turbo was the previous name and it had a free demo on their page before going to Steam and that demo was in the same free format as this.
