I bought several games and it works great on Linux, the icon is missing on the game page itself but if you search the game on the steam store it is shown there along side the win/mac ones, so don't worry, it works like wonders.
The only feature that I miss that the windows version has is the "Simple Launcher" which is a WAY LESS demanding launcher. Sure the 3Dish room looks fabulous but once you've seen it a few times it is not worth all the resources that it "eats" for what it does, not even on lowest settings. I really hope they add this...
Asides from that, it works incredibly well and the price for the games is very reasonable in comparison with other companies that have released similar products in the past.

AardWolf, BatMUD, SlothMUD, Achaea? It is hard to pick one! I wonder if the server being in the USA REALLY matters on this games if you live in Europe...

From what I've heard they give you very unforgiving memories since a good side of MUDs is that you use your imagination (just like reading a book) and you generate a mental construct, so, in a way, your brain creates the "graphics" the way you want them to be. I've seen some graphical MUDs with really simple and static graphics, ascii maps, maybe an avatar, etc.
Secondly the "time consuming" aspect varies a lot depending on the MUD as far as I'm aware, some might be very punishing, sandboxy, etc while others are not as much, just like the vast variety of mmos you got like 5-10 years ago when they were "a thing". An MMO that gets quite often compared with a MUD is Wurm Online (which works on Linux, I highly recommend it since I play it on a daily basis lol).
Also, I've been told (not really sure about this but I can imagine that it is true) there are MUDs were you can literally do anything and I mean ANYTHING you can imagine, making look open-world sandbox MMOs look like nothing.
Last but not least the communities there are "old" and by old I mean mature, so the chances of finding that "special snowflake" or a raging "kid" are lower, but you'll surely will come across someone eventually I'm sure...
The first one that comes to my memory is Aardwolf, it has been around for a long time - http://www.aardwolf.com/ [External Link]

Quoting: razing32OK , curios now.I haven't played much MUDs mainly because they aren't "from my time", I wish I would give a good effort to get into one because I'm sure they are great. I've known plenty of people that have played them and I've even tried them myself a little so I hope that I can reply your question.
What would you recommend to a complete n00b of MUDs ?
How unforgiving are they and how time consuming (compared to a MMO RPG) ?

I've even played it via Haguchi with a friend and in persistent worlds as well.

In my humble opinion it actually looks better than Twitter it has a more "minimalistic" and well made interface, but then again I never liked or had a Twitter account :P.
Albion Online is to get another impressive content update named 'Faye'

EVE Online is pretty "loneable" specially if you are in HighSec and Ultima Online as well, they both run flawlessly with Wine.
How's ryzom like, I've never actually tried it.
Another MMO that is pretty good and it's out there for Linux is Wakfu, but the aesthetics of the game just killed it for me, but I must say that the gameplay is pretty solid.

Quoting: PicoboomI am by nature an amiable loner, and so I tend to avoid most PvP gameplay and shy away from joining formal guilds, groups, and teams. I want to support Albion Online --- I've looked it over several times after Liam has written about it here --- but its focus on PvP and Guilds just doesn't sound like it's for me. I'm pinning most of my MMORPG hopes on either open-sourced Ryzom or Runescape, I'm afraid.I loved Runescape, the only thing that put me a bit down is that it is super solo centered and there is not much to do if you want to play with friends or others, like Dungeoneering, raids or well... trading lol... Don't get me wrong I like to lone a lot on MMO's but I also like to group or join guilds once in a while.

Quoting: GrifterI too have great fondness for old UO, in my case freeshards though, I couldn't stand OSI. I'm looking forward to trying this one because there's definitely similarities, however it's not a drop-in replacement for UO, for that you might want to check out 'Shards Online' ( http://shardsonline.com/video/ [External Link] ), this is designed as a type of modern day freeshard uo, you could run your own rp-heavy shard, or a pure pvp shard, or, well, imagination's the limit I suppose. It's looking closer to pure UO than Shroud (though I'm hoping Shroud will eventually take its place as a fun game as well).I didn't knew of the existence of Shards Online, I'll take a look at it definitely, thanks for the info! OSI is kind of MEH nowdays, as I said I loved T2A (mage-fighter template!) and AOS was nice as well...
That said, Albion's looking like the first one out the door, so that's what I'll go with first =)

The first time someone mentioned me this game he told me "THIS IS GOING TO BE THE NEXT ULTIMA ONLINE!!!" and in fact I saw a lot of people saying that on the net as well, I got pretty excited even before looking at it because I'm a huge UO fan, but then when I saw it I was kind of disappointed, surely it looks like a sandbox but as @Kimyrielle said it seems to be more based on PVP.
I didn't want to make a comparison expecting an UO successor because I've got too many dissapointments from that *coughs* Shroud Of The Avatar *coughs* so I decided to investigate further, the big turn off for me, among other things, was that you can buy in game gold with real money... mmm yeah... most of the times what kills a sandbox is the inflation of prices and in-game currencies (asides from cheaters etc etc etc) and don't get me wrong I'm ok with cosmetics items and other purchasable things and even xp boost potions to some extent, but this seems to be beyond that.
Also MMO's as we know them are a dying breed, newer generation of gamers are more interested into other genres of online gaming.

'Planet Explorers', the open world RPG sandbox finally released in full, with Linux support

Quoting: AnxiousInfusionIt looks nice indeed...I'm sure that people will complain about the ""dated graphics"" but they look good enough for meAlright, somebody mentioned earlier that Planet Explorers has "something" that other games don't and I think the graphics play into this. This game has an atmosphere of circa ~2004 RPGs from back when experimentation and creative freedom still reigned supreme in game making. PE's forests in particular, bring me back to the time I was a kid, drooling over screenshots of the potential adventures MMORPGs at the time would provide me.. 'if only I could afford my way into PC gaming'. Maybe I just have nostalgia glasses on but PE is one of the last few games which truly feels like escapism.
Motorsport Manager released, sort of, currently downloads nothing on Linux

I'll be ultra mad if that happened to me, if it's something you are really excited to play/get the deception is going to be huge to the point that I would probably ask for a refund and not get it when they've fixed the issue.
It's kind of sad to hear that those things happen, but maybe its just a minor mistake from their part and they fix it asap.

Black Mesa, the fan-made remake of Half-Life is rather unstable on Linux right now
9 Nov 2016 at 9:43 pm UTC
The only problem that I encountered during the gameplay was that I got stuck on a pipeline on the "residue processing" chapter and needed to use "noclip" in the console to get past that point, reloading the game to a previous save before that pipeline didn't seem to work, neither restarting the chapter, altho the second full run worked just fine in that very same spot... Maybe my first Gordon Freeman was a bit more chubby ;).

Quoting: liamdaweYes, I was talking about Black Mesa, I meant all the -> CHAPTERS <- not episodes. Meh, my bad translation to English... Sorry about that.Quoting: Crystal DaggerI played all the episodes they've released twice without a crash or any other problem. Guess I'm lucky? This is not Valve's Half-Life or episodes, this is Black Mesa.
