Valve confirm that Steam purchases with PayPal have been limited to a few select currencies

A P2P payment option that I recently became aware of, for users in the USA, is Chime Pay Anyone.
I wonder if Steam, GOG, and others will at some point, officially allow purchases to be made with it.

Steam purchases now clearly state you're just getting a license not ownership

Quoting: Maxine-PieGOG - from what I recall - doesn't let you download content that has been removed from their storefront like how steam does, and they rely on the idea that their DRM-free policy is what makes the content always accessible to users even when they are no longer available on GOG.
GOG does allow prior purchases to be downloaded after the game has been dislisted.

The only(?) reason for not being able to download the content in your account is if it was removed by GOG.
There have only been a few instances where "purchased" content was removed from user's accounts.
Off the top of my head, "Timberborn" demo was removed; an update for "Alan Wake" that removes a song from the game.

You can even claim a gifted game code after that game was delisted. This is assuming the game code has not expired. There are GOG forum threads specifically for gifted game codes.

Developer of Deadnaut: Signal Lost requests Linux testers
22 Mar 2023 at 3:01 am UTC

Quick testing on my distro:
PuppyLinux - S15Pup64 22.12
Of the many PuppyLinux versions available, the one I am currently using is compatible with slackware64 15.0

Game starts, menu loads, game plays with audio and video.

[terminal]
# ./"Signal Lost.x86_64"
Loading in SingleInstance mode
[/terminal]

No other terminal output.
With less than 30 minutes of testing, game appears to run well on my system.

Looks like Valve may be preparing a 64bit version of the Steam client

Quoting: ScooptaBut that's a strictly Windows problem so what does that have to do with the Linux version of steam?
Just a Windows problem? That is good to know.
In that case, it just concerns linux+steam+wine users.

Some games that say they are 64 bit, still use some 32 bit components.

An example would be GRIP

NVIDIA dropping support for 32bit Linux this month, also dropping Fermi series support

Just to add a bit of info.
According to winehq [External Link], there are many 64-bit applications that still include 32-bit components.

I forget the exact quote, but I even got an email reply from a Grip [External Link] dev, stating that their 64-bit game uses 32-bit components.

Valve to open source 'GameNetworkingSockets' to help developers with networking, Steam not required

Quoting: GuestSteam still has one great advantage on the networking side, and that is its matchmaking/lobby services. Not everyone has the resources to run matchmaking services of their own (or indeed wants to), so this is one thing Steamworks still gives you. Im not aware of any good matchmaking services that arent Steam to be honest - the last was Gamespy which, of course, shut down.

GOG adds Linux downloads for retro titles Earthworm Jim 1 & 2
26 Nov 2017 at 4:33 am UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: pbCould your friendly GOG contacts tell us when they plan to release Galaxy client for Linux? I have hundreds of games on GOG (Earthworm Jims included) and it's a real hassle to manage them, and that's ignoring all the extra content that comes with them (soundtracks, manuals, codewheels etc.).
For downloading many GOG games and their extra content, quicker than downloading through your GOG account on a web browser, I recommend
