Quoting: Purple Library GuyIn the Anglosphere, this will be reported as "Look at those power-mad EU bureaucrats and their evil, enterprise-stifling regulations".Gotta love that you managed to summarize the "argument" of the UK EU represenntatives when it comes to all of the Open Hardware & Right To Repair associations banding together to lobby the EU back in 2011. :D
No for real you almost quoted Farrage word for word here.

That and also controller design isn't "a male thing" , and should have never been seen and treated that way in the first place, sadly that's the state of the industry on that front and it's only recently that some measures have been taken. But Google Stadia Controllers design team is legit the first one to have a lot of women as their test audiences many of which had fairly tiny hands .
Also again if you go back to the video promoting the controller itself they do show that they also tested with men with tiny hands but tinier in a different way than most women with tiny hands.
So you don't have a Sony only working of off Japanese hands (and end up with indeed fairly tiny self contained controllers) or XBOX where the test audiences were men or women with fucking cargo boats in lieu of hands.
So that idea of "second best" is nothing but disguised disgust to me.

Quoting: EikeRemoving some negation, I read it as adapting for women is (still) fine for men. That's not how I read it and that sentence definitely means quite litteraly the exact opposite to me .

Wanna know what's even more infiuriating in this whole deal ?
The guys that designed the two PCB + the metal frame holding them made TWO holes that go all the way through so that it could be held together by two screws .
Shell designers answer ? Single screw + the afforementioned super thick clips all around the seams of the two shells ...
Like for real the shell team ruined the most thoughtfull internal PCB design for a controller in a long while ... just because.

Quoting: TheRiddickWell maybe it was intentional. Me personally, I prefer controllers that just have a couple or so bolts in the back that allow for easy opening of controller. Yeah it adds 20cents to the price, whatever....Well me too.

Dota Underlords adds Duos team creation and ranked play, next major update coming soon

I just wished that other Underlords would be released because poor Hobgen is not receiving that much love sooo a lot of my opponents are fellow Anessix mains.

Quoting: HomedreadDuring the beta I played a little but found it not so fun. My girl friend love it a lot (played more than 150 h). So, when they introduce Duo mode, I came back to play with her, and yes, this game in duo mode is really fun. More easy to play first, middle and end game style, if I one of the team player always lost at the beginning to build end game deck, it's not a problem, share coin and stack creature for the other is also really cool. Thnak valve to create this mode and let us play with so many smiles and shareI have yet to try playing the duo modes but I find it plenty fun in solo mode.

B : Of course you don't see it ...
C : fixed your massive one hell of a typo...
Acutally the inside PCB design is actually one of the best I have seen lately everything is correctly labeled with idiot proof marking and sliding pillars, you can't put buttons in the wrong hole.
And the PCB is divided in two, a control board and a "contact and switches board" which WOULD make the cleaning of that controller fairly easy to do and actually WOULD prevent you from risking the control Chips since they are on a separate board below the contact and switches one.
Even better their choice of battery form factor and size and ratings is sensible since it's a regular off the shelf battery pack model builders are using for custom RC cars. So buying a replacement WOULD be straight forward.
Why so much yelled "would" well ....
Here is where the fault lies, the gals/guys who designed the shell of the controller made it with clips that are so fucking thick that they are unpushable. Controller reviewers who tried to pop it open to see how easy it would be to clean it had to whip out BOTH a Heat gun and a fucking dremel to finally get in.
Sooo TL DR the team that designed the electronics were sane and actually sensible and cleaning friendly , the SHELL design team felt like throwing all of that good work out the window by being inconsiderate jerks.
Hope that clarification is welcomed because really that's what ticks me off the most is that one part of the team DID DO the right thing, while the other part felt like being jerks.

Quoting: TheRiddickFrom what I understand Stadia will happily suck all your data away if you don't limit it. Maybe early launch issues I dunno. Also I hear the controller feels cheap and can't be repaired, its glued together, probably better getting a 3rd party one.I talked about it as my first comment in this very comment section but let's do it justice.

Every controller can be improved upon especially for as long as we're gonna practice the "one size fits all" philosophy.
Yet when it comes to people with very short fingers and very tiny palms the steam controller LOOKS like a nightmare at first but using it you rapidly realize it's only deceiving looks.
As for the texture I do agree that it should be improved the steam controller is the controller I clean the most because my dead skin grime gets everywhere.
TL DR you know damn well what I meant don't play the fool here ...

Quoting: SalvatosThere is no such a thing as "the perfect controller" only thoughtfully designed ones and I have said it multiple times both in the discord and in comments section when it was the subject of conversation.Quoting: TheSyldatThe steam controller only LOOKS girthy but when you take the time to assess button placement and spacing and overall shape of it all no actually the steam controller is one of if not the best designed controllers in the world, so using it as a your point of comparison isn't exactly the best of all ideas .Ironically, you say that like it’s universally better for everyone, as if we all had the same hands and experience with it. To me it was awkward to hold and the texture (especially the touch pad) chafed my skin to the point that I was eager to get rid of it.

While the steam controller is a godsend because its design is thoughtful, having to use an XBOX One controller on the other hand is always a pain in the ass for me because its design is legitimately downright painful for my hands.

Quoting: namikoI also have stubby fingers, small hands, and the Steam Controller works fine with me, RSI wrist/finger strain from long periods of gaming aside. Maybe I have big palms?I'm intersex and my hands are very much drinking all of the feminine stuff and have short fingers small palms.

Quoting: namikoSupporting women also isn't downgrading (subjectively) male things to second-best.As for this one here I'm not even gonna comment on it and just quote you so that you read yourself back if don't see what's wrong in that sentence I don't know what to tell you other than "welcome to the mute list"

Although they are more than a tinsy bit up their own ass about "doing better than the competitors" , I mean different color finish for controllers has been a thing on both XBOX and Playstation and Nintendo since forever.
What was actually said was that the design team wanted to distance themselves from the aggressive and fairly aimed at dude bros "gamer aesthetic" that every piece of "gamer tech" is aiming for lately .
Also off note contrary to most controller design teams during the testing phases women have also been test audiences for their designs (the XBOX controllers for example still have button placements and overall size unfit for a lot of lady hands making it playing long sessions on them painful for a lot of women )
It's just that the dude who's picking the titles for the article felt like "being funny" by emphasizing the use of the words gender neutral by the lady who talked about designing the controller.
That being said their design is nice and all, except we can't crack those babies open to clean them, like I pointed out in my first comment here personally.
TL : DR Gender Neutral as in "For once we ALSO tested our designs with ladies who have tiny short fingers like a lot of women do to make sure the controller is ALSO comfy for them"
But I guess that designing ALSO for women to make sure it's ALSO comfy for them is "identity politics bs" ...

Quoting: EikeWell, I guess they conceive something with saying that, but it's not obvious to me what it is. So, as you seem to be 9interested in that topic: What is is Google is thinking of here?If you actually read the various articles about it, but more to the point go back to the marketing video about them designing the controller.

Although you DO NOT NEED the google stadia controller, it's what a looot of people that are casual gamers WILL use in the future and in its current state the internal design just wont do :
Google Stadia Controller Teardown. [External Link]
I know that for a lot of you, you don't care about that kind of thing, but I'm a ginger my skin comes off really quickly and like most gingers I have a fairly acidic sweat. So my controllers DO get grimy and full of gunk relatively quickly.
The reason why I always buy my controllers in pairs is precisely because I have to pop'em open to clean them.
And if I have to take a dremel to the seams of its shell to crack it open because you made your clips so fucking thick that they are unpushable, then you messed up your internal design.
Even more of a shame the people who made the PCB and chose the motor placements DID give a damn about making it easy to put it back together.
And the battery is even using a regular 3-pin connector for easy replacement. But what's the fucking point if it's so fucking hard to crack it open, that I need a heat gun and fucking dremel.
The rest of the article is great Liam I'm not questioning that but really the Stadia controller is NOT okay on that front.
