Sword Coast Legends RPG Released For Linux, Some Initial Thoughts

Quoting: GuestThe camera is much better than Pillars (I know and understand their decision to not invest in the scenery so they can lock it to one view)
You're off beam: Pillars has 2D backgrounds, which aren't cheap to make with the level of detail they have, and they decided for 2D background because they wanted to make a successor to the Infinity Engine games which are isometric games with hand crafted 2D backgrounds.

Their concept art is *really* beautiful, I wish they had achieved that look with the engine but the lighting is much more bland in there.

Motörhead Through The Ages, An Expansion For The RPG Victor Vran Announced

Ahhhh don't call this just an RPG ! You wouldn't call Braid just a platformer. Braid is a puzzle platformer and the puzzle part is proeminent. Victor Vran is an action game first with some RPG elements, but it's definitely not an RPG, it's 85% mindless action, 10% skills and inventory management and 5% monologues.

Global desktop Linux usage share has been growing for the last four months according to StatCounter [External Link], starting from 1.39% in december to 1.91% last month, its highest score ever. In North America and Europe it's more pronouced with 2.54 and 2.45% respectively in april. Of course with such small numbers, it could dip again fast.

C4 Engine Drops Linux Support, Developer Says Linux Is Inferior

In light of that, I was thinking that we could offer how to handle things better. If someone has a problem with developing on Linux, they should definitely state what, and why, but should not resort to baseless ranting or snide comments. That really applies to anything, not just Linux. In this case, the dev couldn't personally get everything setup and working within the time and effort to justify what he perceived as worth any return on investment. No shame in that. If he'd just left it there, I think it would have all been good. But he didn't. I think we can all agree that was a bad move.
Yes, and this is the kind of comments I wanted to see. Thanks for the effort!

While I understand the point of not getting stuck in unreasonable comments, this time I feel it's slightly different: the dev in question brought it upon himself with some really bad PR moves. There is a bit of joking in here, but nothing truly abusive that I've seen.
That's the problem, you don't perceive it as such but it's abusive. I'll use simple terms – forgive me – for the idea to have a chance to pass: When a foolish, hateful guy spits on you, spitting back on him with the same hate makes you a bad person too. Not exactly as much, yes, but you both have a condemnable attitude and you both have to fix it. If the guy is beyond repair or you don't know how to lead him to stop being a fool, just ignore him. But gathering with friends to spit on him en masse is abusive in itself.

Instead, try to be the wise one : condemn his attitude but do it objectively. That is, without any resentment and disdain. This is what makes you a better person than him.

A day later, the comments here are still as unreasonable and it makes me sad. Liam slung the first rotten tomato at the villain and distributed more for everyone to have fun and the crowd followed with enthusiasm. How can I help you take a step back and see how bad and immature an attitude this is ?

P.S. Please keep comments reasonable about this topic.
It's in paradox with your article which publicly exposes a fool for the crowd to throw rocks at. There can hardly be anything reasonable in that. :S:
