Great news that its being picked up by someone else - apparently Marek is working on threading Gallium and has seen better than expected performance improvements

Vulkan API 1.0.42 released, new NVIDIA beta drivers released to go with it

VK_KHX_external_memory_win32 is the windows equivalent of VK_KHX_external_memory_fd, it must have been significantly different to warrant a separate extension. Probably goes for semaphore's, windows will be the only non-posix OS Vulkan runs on.

I believe David Airlied has already implemented a few of these extensions (which were put in the Valve binary radv driver) which should be upstreamed now the spec has been published

Getting the 'threaded GL dispatch' code into Mesa is causing some issues, Valve might use a white-list

We already have a list of programs that don't conform to strict OpenGL standards and thus driconf allows errors to be downgraded to allow games & programs to run. The only difference with GLThread is it's a performance boost rather than broken functionality workaround - and yes I know those work arounds are often disputed too

Shadow of Mordor benchmarks old vs new on Linux

Gentoo User here, I had to copy some libraries from ./ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ to ./steamapps/common/ShadowOfMordor/lib/x86_64/

I didn't have to do this when I first got the game, I'm not sure if it was caused by the Mordor update or a Steam client update, or simply the libraries on my system being too new now

To be clear the STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled so it should be using the provided libraries rather than the system ones (which are now too new to be compatible)

Voxeliens, a game I covered back in 2012 has gone open source

It'll probably need porting to Qt5 and SDL 2 (from Qt4 and SDL 1.2) looks fun though and it isn't a big download
