The curious tale of vanishing Linux & SteamOS ports, a status on a few of them

Everyone forgetting the day one promise (day one of official Steam on Linux launch iirc), of Rome 2 Total War? I held off playing that until the port came out.

Any day now right :).

/me goes back to Stellaris.

An EVE Online developer has built an unofficial Linux launcher, game uses Wine

Certainly would be amazing if they switched to Vulkan. I do wonder if they would consider the Linux/Ps4/Console in general market.

Yet they run their backend on some advanced windows stuff, I always found that amusing. A job spec their for a sys admin was some hardcore windows stuff.

What this game will be like in a year or two excites me, the amount of possibilities are almost endless. Oh and a total conversion mod is being made for Star Trek by the team that brought "Armada 3" to Sins of a Solar Empire.

Just awesome.

Oh and HoI4 out next week... damn it!

Ah I thought I recognised this game, it was written by a guy I went school with (Christian West). I'll certainly be getting this!

Civilization VI announced, will support Linux & SteamOS

It's a day 1 Linux release purchase from me, but I do hope it's more like civ4 than 5. I know 5 is raved about everywhere, but I didn't find it fun.

simple as that, and I've been playing civ since the first one.

Ah well... back to Stellaris :) (Note to paradox, where are my silicoids?)

Stellaris releasing today with day 1 Linux support, here’s my review, livestream later with key giveaway!

I preordered this (since they love Linux and I love them) and I have the same worry you do... I've barely played anything else but CK2 and EU4 since Steam on Linux became a thing. This just makes it worse plus HOI4 coming out next month.

Luckily (or unluckily depending on your views), Uncharted 4 is out tomorrow, so I get to slum it in a world of turn brain off and enjoy the game kind of thing, shame I've got to buy a PS4 just for the experience!

The new Master of Orion is now on Linux

Beyond the races we all know and love, I get the feeling that this will be like playing Total War when Stellaris is like CK2/EU4.

Hopefully they fix a lot of the issues I've read about in the steam reviews. Will buy of course, af því að... Linux!

With stellaris coming out as well as this, plus the ever addicting eu4 and ck2....

I just need the days to be longer!

Nvidia releases 364.16 Vulkan driver, improved Optimus support, improved multi-threaded scaling

Optimus is officially supported in a way - You can use nvidia prime which allows you to switch between Intel and Nvidia, but it's pretty rubbish since you have to restart X/reboot to use the tool. So bumblebee is still king here.

That said, there are patches in places in the kernel, Xorg and nvidia drivers by the nvidia team that will massively improve optimus soon, because screen tearing is shockingly bad. I've tried both prime and bumbleebee, the new patches allow the entire system to talk to itself to actually use vsync via a screen sink (so nvidia outputing stuff on the intel).

Can't wait. I've been unable to play some games because the tearing is just so bloody bad. Alien Isolation? not even once :(.

Tomb Raider, the excellent 2013 game is officially coming to Linux from Feral Interactive

I'm going to have to buy a new Feral copy and gift it someone. Least when you buy directly from Feral they get the monies right? I mean, even if it ends up in the hands of a soul-less windows player?
