From what I can tell from this discussion - it would be impossible to make everyone happy.
You've certainly taken over the mantle from Linuxgames.com (which has been fairly quiet for last 2/3yrs now tbh), so I'm happy to chip in and view adverts.
Keep up the good work!

Is there any money in Steam referrals either? When you do an advert of a game and you have the "buy from Steam" button at the bottom, there not a way to get a cut of those sales?
Tuxgames used to have something similar for buying from them. I'll go unblock the ads as well.

Well the beauty of this entire situation with Eon and Co is simple, if you don't like what theyre doing (as in not contributing upstream and what not), just don't buy their games... or any closed source games.
That way you can feel morally superior whilst playing open source games.

If you already own it, you can get a steam key for it as well. Not 100% how.

I for one buy everything from Paradox as thanks for their excellent Linux support, even EU4 got a new launcher interface today from the free patch amongst a host of other bits.
Just hope they do the same for CK2 next time.

Quoting: GuestParadox… So it will be another complicated and expensive game without a demo and with a thousand DLCs, I suppose. Great. The DLCs are all optional and they improve the game without DLC's by using money from the DLC's that other people buy.

Thats another good point, something that is already out is already been through the "new game purchase" phase. I didn't buy witcher 2 when it came out for Linux,I got it in some god forsaken steam sale event yonks ago.
So in essence, me having Witcher 2 on Linux earnt the company _nothing_, I didnt spend a penny on the effort of porting it. Now I know others won't have had it and will now buy it so we expect some quality in that regard (no way am I letting them off the hook), but how much can we expect from a game that already is out?
As previous said, its new games built from ground up to be cross-platform that shouldnt go near wrappers, but some companies dont have the experience to do proper native ports. If youre a windows dev house, doing Linux sometimes might be too hard for the expected returns.
Either way, im not that bothered, EU4 for Linux runs beautifully <3

No one here wants second rate, not sure where you picked that up front. We all want good performing games and porting titles that originally didnt have Linux next to its requirements at creation sometimes need wrappers.
If a game is using a wrapper, and its shit, we'll either moan to get it fixed or not buy it. Ive got over 180 linux games on my steam list and most are native, so its not the worst trend we could have.

I think performance and reliability matter more to the end user. Many of us would want 100% native, of course we would.
I recall playing Transgaming version of the Sims when that came out and that played pretty darn well imho, and that was wrapped around winex iirc, when you dont have problems, you dont focus on whats under the bonnet so to speak.
If the Witcher 2 played as well on Linux as the Valve games do then this article probably wouldn't exist.
Bottom line, lets get as many games as possible now, once we hit a certain threshold, all new games should be cross platfrom from the word go. Then we can enjoy a better future.
Next up, how to convince EA to release the source code for Linux version of Alpha Centauri so we can make it better :D
