I'm no big fan of either, but: Apple funds development of projects like CUPS, LLVM, and Webkit (not that Webkit is terribly relevant any more). Microsoft has become a big contributor to Git, and funds the guys who made Mono.

there now seems to be no way to view just Linux games. Previously, you could switch between Linux games and all games but now that option is just gone. It also no longer tells you if a game is running with Steam Play, that bit is also just gone.

Exactly the same issues I complained about when there was the "leaked" preview... :|

Canonical has never seemed too interested in using their resources productively; rather they do things like Mir, Unity, Snap... although recently one of their developers *has* been submitting GNOME patches. A pleasant change to see them actually contributing to upstream projects.
