Oh, how did I forget that? FYI, there are 3 parts to that one.

One of these days, I'll get around to Thimbleweed Park; made by a former LucasArts developer, so I'm sure it's good. ;)

Quoting: MrNilssonIf you're up you can tell me some must plays on Linux. Doesn't have to be only point-and-click adventures.
Doesn't have to be, but will be for my list, lol!

Book of Unwritten Tales (there are 3)
Deponia (there are 4)
Broken Sword (there are 5 total; the bad ones are not Linux native)
Dreamfall Chapters (not quite point & click)
Life Is Strange (not quite point & click)

Bendy and the Ink Machine & Prison Architect going cheap in the new Humble Very Positive Bundle 3
17 Jul 2019 at 4:26 am UTC Likes: 1

Steam said I already own Bendy and the Ink Machine (probably some prior bundle). However, it says the executable is missing; in fact, installing it just yielded an empty directory here. Is it working for anyone else?

Edit: verifying integrity in Steam says everything is good, so it must be an empty depot or something.

Edit 2: maybe I just had the demo, and they screwed up when they merged everything together:

RetroArch, the front-end app for emulators and more is heading to Steam

Quoting: HoriBut I'd much rather have Steam with this functionality built in, like Steam Play.
The steam-dos project has shown it is possible integrate with the compatibility tools, but that's only useful if there are games sold on Steam with ROMs. Are there many, besides the Sega Classics that already come with an emulator?

I suppose having an alternative to the bundled emulator is useful sometimes. After all, steam-dos is nicer than using SteamPlay for the various Doom games (native DOSBox instead of Windows version of DOSBox through WINE).

Also worth mentioning, if you enjoy any of the classic DOS games that are only "supported" on Windows, is steam-dos, which hooks nicely into the Steam compatibility tool selection:

There's also a nice GreaseMonkey script, which adds the ProtonDB ratings on the Steam game pages:

Nope, they will not include proprietary bits by default. It's well supported via RPMFusion though.

FOSS game engine "OpenRCT2" for RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 has a fresh release out
11 Jul 2019 at 11:58 pm UTC

Looks like I have the original game on Steam, which made me think about a cool project: a Steam compatibility tool that would auto-download the latest open source engine and launch the game with that.

It would be similar to dreamer's steam-dos project:
https://github.com/dreamer/steam-dos [External Link]

But rather than launching DOSBox, it would have to support specific games/engines.

Key reseller G2A is back in the spotlight again, as a petition is up to ask them to stop selling indie games

Quoting: Maathwith physical games, there has always been a used games market.
This is one of the biggest reasons I don't like paying "full price" for digital games. Besides that, by the time I get around to playing them, they have usually been out for quite a while...

Quoting: Maaththe continued failure of the credit card industry to secure their systems from such rampant fraud.
They could care less about fraud, they screw either the consumer or the merchant, and get their transaction fees regardless.

Quoting: MaathI'd love to see Steam allow selling and reselling keys as often as you like. If they already have the ability to take away one's access to a game after verifying a fraudulent purchase, then they should be able to manage the hand off of a used game from one owner to the next.
Sounds great to me!

The next Humble Monthly is out, with two more interesting early unlock games

Quoting: MorguldirSomething to note about Surviving Mars and the Deluxe Editions, if you purchase this humble monthly bundle you get the base game, but you will still have to pay the same price for the Deluxe Edition and First Colony Edition.
Yeah, I noticed (and was annoyed by) that, too. I thought I could get a cheaper upgrade to First Colony Edition, but nope. Paradox did the same with Stellaris and the "Starter Pack" - learn to use the bundle feature, guys!
