Collabora announced Venus, 3D accelerated Vulkan in QEMU

Quoting: ljrkNow we "only" need drivers for Windows and macOS to interface with that. Plus dxvk (dx9-11) und vkd3d for dx12 for Windows and MolteVK for macOS and we'd have pretty neat graphics accelaration ;)
Iirc dxvk is os-agnostic and can be used on Windows as well. Don't know about vkd3d and others.
I'm more curious about performance compared between wine+dxvk and VM+dxvk+Venus.
I guess it is not only the overhead of using a VM but that will hurt performance in this scenario. But might be really useful for other usecases. E.g. I might be able to run a Windows VM on my secondary monitor for CAD and other stuff that needs basic 3d rendering without the need to dualboot. But honestly I haven't checked yet if those do run satisfyingly inside a VM. (And no, wine is no option; said program does not work with wine)

Bohemia Interactive are 'looking into' DayZ for the Steam Deck

just tested dayz experimental (when asked launch client)

i was able to join a battlenet protected server and play for a couple of minutes. just lack the time to test more right now =)

Edit: i was able to play both stable and experimental Version. All I had to do was install battleeye proton runtime and after hitting play I chose to launch the DayZ client (second option)

Unfortunately my system freezes after about 15 minutes of gameplay.

Anyone able to test themself?

Quoting: Avehicle7887I'm particularly interested in that fix for Elex, does this mean the game is now free from graphical errors? If possible could anyone retest it, I've been wanting to play this for a while.
On my system (AMD RX 580 with Mesa 18.0.4 and wine-staging-nine 3.9), game still has those blocky edges around trees (this bug: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/issues/289 [External Link], that is now corrected in Mesa-git and will go in Mesa 18.1), performance is better than previous version, also occasional flickering when staying into vegetation nearly disappeared.

Still no look running Sleeping Dogs: all I get is a white screen :(

EDIT: yes, you can play the game without problems! :D
Like already said in dxvk github: you can also avoid these blocky edges with RADV_DEBUG=nofastclears

Will take some time but i'll record some minutes of gameplay later

What are you playing on Linux this weekend and what do you think about it?

Some Tomb Raider (2013) which i want to finally finish before starting the sequel. I didn't really get warm with the earlyer titles but i really do enjoy this one.

I'm also planning on some coop sessions of Dying Light on nightmare with a good friend of mine. He just upgraded his pc an needs to finish the main game first, then we'll probably take a look at "the following" dlc
Sad that this one does cause lots of trouble with mesa, even if it should be an easy task to support it by now.

Valve have announced the Steam Link app and the Steam Video app (updated)
9 May 2018 at 7:37 pm UTC

Steamlink has native app support, but not very much. I don't think there's a native Netflix app, but there is Kodi for Steamlink, which I have installed on mine. If Kodi has a Netflix plugin, then there you go.

Yes you are right but no usable apps. Kodi on steam link is said to have very limited performance and netflix for kodi (with widevine and inputstream) is a hit and miss. Sometimes it works and then it breaks again. Had it running on raspberry pi for some time but in the end bought a smart tv.

That's awesome news. There are mostly two things i was/am waiting for with steam link/streaming

First was a mobile client for in home streaming
Second would be basic app support for the steam link (e. G. native netflix app)

I guess the latter will not happen so soon and who knows in what direction steam will evolve.

@Leopard i took thqt information from information and discussion on youtube-videos. Didn't have the chance to test myself and will not. I just recently ditched my windows vm and am not eager to buy a new title for testing purpose.

From what i have read the rendering of far cry 5 does work rather well, but it's the drm that is blocking right now.

Correct me if i'm wrong but without removal of copy protection/drm its not possible to play far cry 5 with wine and dxvk atm.
