What games do you want ported to Linux? Feral Interactive want to know again
12 Aug 2017 at 8:45 pm UTC

- Assetto Corsa
- Rise of the Tomb Raider
- Take on Helicopters
- Elite Dangerous (they already ported it to MAC so it shouldn't be that difficult anymore to also have a linux version... hopefully....)
- Mass Effect Andromeda
- GTA 5
- DCS
- Arma3 (the VP port doesn't really/fully work)
- bioshock 1/2 remastered
- Battlefield 3 or 4
- the Assassin's Creed Series
- the FarCry Series

Helium Rain, a single-player space simulation to release in Early Access with Linux support

Surely look interesting... Will give it a shot...
But regarding realism: Those tons of asteroids... You know that in real space you have to aim very precisely to even find one? There's usually dozens or hundreds of kilometers of empty space between them.. But everyone only remembers the scenes from the Star Wars movies when thinking about asteroid fields, etc. (Yes, I know I'm being a smartass and annoying right now)

finally (hopefully).. at least parts of the storymode..

stoppped playing after i walked through a door which couldn't be opened from the other side and lost a well developed/equipped shelter with lots of resources, as there was no direct / short route back "home"... and just playing the sandbox get's a little bit boring after a while.. but having a context and a goal - besides just surviving - will make it more interesting.. i guess i have something planned for the next days..

but releasing the story in chunks is not very nice, especially considering the time it was in development / early access.. that already was a problem in dreamfall chapters (still a fantastic game though), returning to a game months later to a story you hardly remember details of can be difficult.. and regaining all the established experience in game mechanics you had can also a be a lengthy task the more complex the game is... so i generally dislike that kind release-strategy.. but when it comes to funding the development process, it seems kind of necessary.. but isn't that what early access is actually about?

Beyond Enemy Lines, a single-player tactical FPS looks like it's heading to Linux (updated)

Quoting: PolygonArt2) The BigFry Youtube review can be considered failed review. It's like playing ArmA 3 like Call of Duty and blame ArmA 3 to be a bad game. ...
Absolutely agree with that... Gamers as well as reviewers sometimes show some strange attitude depending on their gaming history, so it's always necessary to listen very closely what the actual complaints are. Especially when it comes to games which are intended to be more realistic (What, I can't set a new world record in a 100m sprint while carrying 30kg of gear with me?)!

But one thing stood out from that review anyway:
- aiming is constrained to a grid
if that grid is bigger than a single pixel, it might be an issue regarding long range/sniper attacks (something that might be needed and a strategy I loved in "Deltaforce Landwarrior" ) ... so it will have an effect playability..

Another thing which I sadly have to agree upon is graphics. It doesn't look like it was started 3 years ago, so you might reconsider
Quoting: PolygonArt3) The graphics won't change that much. ....
as that would have an effect on overall sales (on all platforms/OSs). Sad but true: regarding graphics most people nowadays expect a little bit more for that price. And they don't care how many people worked on that thing, they just compare price against what they get (not meant as an offence, rather food for thought).

Anyway... I'm one of those still curios to test it..

Quoting: SirBaskomWelfordLooks vaguely similar to the old Delta Force games from Novalogic.
totally agree... and they were very cool games! not as braindead as some stuff release nowadays.. so i think i'll definitly take a look at it.. though the graphics really needs some enhancements (more like details, not necessarily effects) as not only
Quoting: liamdawe... it actually sounds a little like the first Crysis. ...
graphics quality also looks like first crysis (2007) or rather first farcry (2004) (were the first half was somewhat similar and the enjoyable part of the game)...

The Culling survival game now works on Linux, sort of

sounds like it's really worth waiting for an update... on the other hand: strategy / gameplay seems to be like ARK:Survival of the Fittest, so why wait for it anyway if you already have ARK...
besides that: QA for Linux ports seems to be close to zero for many games (yes, there's a couple of wonderful examples which will contradict this statement (i.e. Gaijin/Feral stuff just to name two of 'em), but there's a lot more for which it sadly holds true)... so why do companies complain about low linux sales? would they release the same kind of quality on a playstation (would it even pass QA of Sony?)? i just think if the penguin is going to be a real gamer at some time it will need serious commitment from developers and users willing to make demands (not just being excited that their platform has been notice at all).

Insurgency: Sandstorm looks absolutely stunning, still planned to release on Linux

A graphic overhaul for Insurgency is long overdue, so I'm really looking forward for it.

Story mode is always a difficult thing. Especially when the game / developers where focused on multiplayer-only before. But I surely would appreciate a good campaign (hope it's not too short). The developers statement seems to suggest some more 'spec ops: the line' like story, that would be fantastic. Especially in this genre it would be nice to have more games that make you think about what you're doing and why you're doing it.

ARK: Survival Evolved release date revealed, plus new free map

Haven't played it in a long time, but what worked for me at an early state of the game was: max. out graphics (epic or something like that it was called), then restart the game and it ran smoothly with a i7-3770k & gtx970@3840x2160 ... it even ran better at that setting than lower graphics details (but I don't know if that still works with the current version)... so they seem to do weird things with the engine (at least in the past)...
