Quoting: Leeo97oneIs it even possible to play a single game without XWayland?Sure, most games using SDL2 should run just fine with
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland
. Unfortunately SDL from the Steam runtime is still compiled without Wayland support, so it won't work there, but it should pretty much anywhere else.

Unfortunately adaptive sync doesn't work on X11 with multiple monitors, so at the moment I don't have it either way (I also don't feel like turning the second one off). But I do see the problem being solved more easily on Wayland, once the implementation is there in the first place.

Quoting: ShmerlWayland stats would be interesting, but it still has major downsides for gaming, such as lack of adaptive sync support.

I'd be very interested in statistics on X11 vs Wayland usage, maybe as a separate question or just more DE entries. I've been using Sway for work for a while but I feel that over this year it has become quite viable for gaming usage as well. There are very few situations where I find myself having to start i3 again.

Quoting: HubroI'm just crossing all my fingers and toes that Sekiro is playable through Steam Play at- or shortly after releaseI really hope so too, this is the game I've been the most excited about in a long time. It seems they're still using the same engine as Dark Souls 3 and system requirements look similar too, so it's at least pretty likely that it'll work.

The writer of the module is aware of the issue and seems to be working on a fix:
