Combo-based hunting & puzzle-based cooking game Battle Chef Brigade is now on GOG, some thoughts

This game is awesome. First I was reluctant to buy it because I didn't think it's on Linux but after I read that it is on this website I grabbed it (and I watched the WTF by TotalBiscuit).

It's really good. I didn't know I'd enjoy it so much because I don't normally play platformer-brawlers (the excellent Dust was one of a few exceptions) and match-three games. This game does it very well.

The only complaint that I have, and this is what TotalBiscuit also said, is that some of the art seems a little bit unfinished. As if they didn't complete the drawing. But this is such a minor thing that it doesn't matter and that it should not deter anyone from getting and playing this. Trust me, it is absolutely worth it.

I'm also really happy that I can play it on my T530 with only an Intel HD 4000.

The only thing I want is more content. More story content, that is. Unfortunately there is no replay value but I'd really welcome some more DLC. Luckily there are daily Cook-off challenges so that is something.

Heard of BatMUD? This classic text-based multiplayer game is still going after many years

Quoting: SamsaiMUDs go further back than the 90s, so yeah. BatMUD itself was released in 1990 and it wasn't the first among MUDs.
Quoting: Al3sAbsolutely. Back in the day all muds where played over telnet on the terminal.
I do not dispute that MUDs were text-based games. I merely questioned the hypothesis that a game can only be referred to as a MUD if it does not contain a graphical user interface, which I have given a counter-example to in the form of Illarion where the developers have been on it since the late 90s and have referred to it as a MUD ever since.
I've just saw a gameplay of Illarion. If that is a MUD, then I guess World of Warcraft is a MUD, too.
On what premise did you reach this conclusion?

Quoting: KeyrockMUDs are the precursor to MMOs. They are MMOs without graphics.
Is that really so? I've been playing Illarion [External Link] on and off for the last 15 years or so and it always had a graphical user interface, even the very first versions from the late 90s.

And it's a really great game since it's about real role-playing. No 1337-speak, no senseless killing or grinding - just picking a character and playing the role of the character as best as you can. Unfortunately fewer and fewer people are playing it. :(

Quoting: starfarerI remember Commander Keen. I loved it when I was a kid. Not sure whether I'd be that keen on playing it again. :E
I recently revisited some childhood classics, Cosmos Cosmic Adventure [External Link] and Monster Bash [External Link]. Good lord those games did not age well. Honestly, I don't foresee anyone buying such titles unless they too had them as a kid.
I remember I had a lot of fun with these games. I think I had a CD with a lot of apogee titles. Commander Keen, Cosmos Cosmic Adventure, Monster Bash, Wacky Wheels. You name it. And I had a lot of fun with them. But I agree with you, I probably wouldn't play them again today. I realised that I have some Commander Keen games in my Steam library. I think I tried to play them a couple of years ago, though not more than for a few minutes. Might try to revisit them again heh.
