Quoting: DuncAfter saying I'd never played it in the Star Wars Day thread a couple of weeks ago, I gave in* and bought Knights of the Old Republic (and its sequel). I can see why it's considered a classic. It's certainly looking a bit long-in-the-tooth, but the basic gameplay and storytelling still hold up pretty well, 17 years later.
Great games indeed!

What do you want to ask? Vulkan in UE4 is already there. For UE5 they wouldn't start using OpenGL.
Yes, I want to ask about parallelization work they were planning and full support of high end features in the Vulkan renderer.

An Epic Games staff member said very clearly "linux isnt going anywhere" in reply to questions about Linux support for Unreal Engine 5 in the 'Unreal Slackers' Discord that I've seen today. So we can expect Linux support to continue.

The same developer later mentioned "and the context for that comment is specific to Linux support is staying in the engine and still being worked on". Just so it's real clear.
That's good to know, Liam! If you have access to their Discord, can you please ask if they already implemented this item [External Link] in UE5:

Full support for UE4’s high-end rendering features utilizing the Vulkan API on both Windows and Linux including parallel rendering to take advantage of all available CPU cores.

Either way, it didn't happen and they said nothing ever since about it and neither did they fix the situation with Nouveau. Talk is cheap and no talk is even cheaper ;)

Quoting: tpauThey had it planned for the original in person event, so regardless of solving problems, it would still be interesting what it is. At least we can laugh at it ;)
Exactly. So I suppose they scrapped their plans. And it means they aren't solving those problems any time soon.

Yep, instead cramming more compute units into the die, let them better start reducing power consumption.

Nothing on their previous driver open sourcing statement? Sounds like things aren't getting better on the Linux front.
