Minigalaxy, a new open source simple GOG client for Linux

Quoting: GuestWhile I'd like to see gog galaxy get a gnu/linux version, that this kind of application can be written by the community is what I approve of most.
The problem is not the client, but lack of Galaxy support for the Linux titles on the server. There is nothing community can do about that.

Quoting: Liam DawePeople dropping offafter two years. A lot of people don't update it once they do it initially so it removes them.
Do you see if those people still return or they also never return to the site? Would be interesting to analyze, whether it's simply updating problem, or rather users leaving one. I.e. for example when deleting, you can set some internal counter about the above.

Also, I get the impression that total number of users with active stats is dropping month after month. I'd expect the opposite if Linux gaming is gradually growing. Why the negative trend?

A few things to add which are commonly suggested:

1. Session type (X or Wayland).
2. Monitor refresh rate.
3. Adaptive sync usage.

Some thoughts on Linux gaming in 2019, an end of year review

Quoting: BeamboomThat's taking it much too far - but yes, the mobile segment is where they pull in the big money and has done so the last ten years or so.
But their desktop segment, especially when we look at laptops, is really massive and they are definitely still pushing forth, much harder than I'd say Microsoft do for their OS.
The fact that they let OpenGL and 32-bit rot there, didn't support Vulkan and didn't care about many other things shows they ignore their own users. Apple's mentality has always been "we know better what you should do, even if what we offer is garbage". In the past they managed to get away with it, but as bit rot started reaching significant levels, even macOS users who drank that koolaid before started being disgusted.

Quoting: BeamboomAnd let's be frank here - they do a LOT right in regards to UX. It's why they have the position they have.
I actually disagree, they are surely over-confident and like to create hype about everything they do. But more often than not, their design is bad and totally not something I'd be interested in using. And everyone else shouldn't look at them as some kind of set in stone example to follow. I quite dislike when this happens.

Their relatively big user base is all thanks to marketing which borders on brainwashing, not because of some good design or UX breakthroughs.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyFor instance, just because sufficient marketing combined with product placement of preloaded Linux computers could push Linux adoption does not mean that is likely to happen. Desktop Linux has to be not just useful for people but a profit driver for some corporation before anyone will do such a thing.
It can be profitable, but problem is displacing the existing monopoly behemoth (MS). The main barriers are network effects of decades of Windows monopoly. I think anti-trust can fix the situation, for example strict requirement for any PC manufacturer to offer OS choice and make it simply illegal to sell computers with Windows option only. Until that happens, there is no point to even expect things to change on significant scale.

Current anti-trust is very lax in this regard, MS got off the hook and run amok for years with this garbage.
