Quoting: Luke_NukemPeople need to stop viewing Linux as FOSS-exclusive. It ain't, and it won't build the momentum required unless big-money gets behind it (as evidenced by Valve pushing it).

I'd say people should stop using Apple mentality when it comes to Linux. It's not macOS. FOSS is quite central to Linux in general, and striving to use open tools and technologies is quite important. So stuff like lock-in and the like shouldn't be acceptable.

Quoting: elbuglioneJust take a look PlayStation.

So? Sony are infamously crooked. It only highlights my point.

Quoting: linuxvangogThey don't, to be honest at some point we started referring to this package as a metapackage that will pull a lot of crucial 32 bit dependencies while installed... and it kinda stuck :P

I see. May be it makes more sense to focus only on critically needed packages, rather than obsolete ones. I find that installing Wine helps a lot in general, since it pulls lot's of commonly needed 32-bit dependencies.

Quoting: elbuglioneSadly... is valid, because is working!

That doesn't make it valid. A lot of crooked methods are working to rip someone off, it doesn't justify them in the least.

Quoting: BrisseEurogamer picked up the story as well.

You might want to not look in the comment section of the article if you find yourself easily triggered. Gotta say, I find a lot of the comments there extremely disturbing/disgusting/ignorant.

That's not uncommon among Windows gamers. Some of them sound like MS shills.

Quoting: stretch611Ars picked up that story from here? Wow, call me shocked. Ars pretty much ignores linux... except for a few small server related articles once every six months or so.

They don't usually write about Linux, but they did report about Steam Machines in the past, so it's not unexpected to see a follow up. However amount of anti-Linux comments for that article is really weird, as well as some trying to justify exclusives and lock-in as a valid methodology.

Great, I've been waiting for this one. What about another "coming for Linux" backed by Devolver Digital, namely Shadow Warrior 2?

Hm, why would they depend on obsolete GTK? Current day games should not do that.

Quoting: Cheesenessbut everything generated and you can't move backwards, so while the game always has new things for you to find (whether that's ancient alien structures, outlaw bases, solar storms, a node that's too close to a star, etc.), you're not exploring a universe the way you might in say, Pulsar, nor are you learning to navigate environments the way you might in Sublevel Zero.

Ah, I see. I thought it's something similar to Freelancer where you can travel anywhere in the sector back and forth. Still sounds interesting, though I'd prefer a fully "sandbox" type of experience.
