Some thoughts on Valve’s new Steam Play feature and what it means for Linux gaming

I think the significance of Steam Play will ultimately exceed even the initial expectations. There are countless gamers that cling to Microsoft solely to play Windows-only titles, and Steam Play makes a permanent switch to Linux a much more reasonable proposition. My personal experience is that the majority of Windows games work fine, not only the current "white listed" titles. Among those that work for me with no drama whatsoever are Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Dino D-Day, DOOM, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, Flatout, KHOLAT, Meow Motors, The Norwood Suite, Project Cars, Raft, Sonic & All-Stars Racing, and Wreckfest. (your mileage may vary) The few that wouldn't cooperate for me: BeamNG.drive, Fallout 4, FAR: Lone Sails, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and Totally Accurate Battlegrounds. I've no doubt that the percentage of Windows games that work under Linux is going to grow... it's a great time to be a Linux gamer!

Certainly not "latest and greatest", I'm playing the classics: Cube 2 Sauerbraten and Smokin' Guns!

Worked like a charm... thank you for sharing! (Of course there is still a myriad of graphical weirdness going on, such as the random shafts of light that appear sporadically above the water)
