Open source XR runtime (VR/AR) 'Monado' sees a first release

Quoting: ShmerlGreat. So are Valve replacing SteamVR with Monado?
is valve involved with openxr? did a search some days back and didn't find any connection (don't confuse this with openvr (vales vr api which isn't realy open and that only works with steamvr atm) or osvr (a somewhat dead project which implements the whole vr stack from driver to runtime to api in one open source package))

Quoting: razing32Sorry to dispel your odd-even theory.
I like 4 and 5 the best.
Tried 3 and 6 as well.
5 remains my favorite.
Ha ha, fair enough! :D
I started with civ 3 and like 3 and 6 the best, not so much 4 and 5.
I guess the perfect civ game is unreachable, must be tough for aspyr xD.

SteamVR 1.9 is out, Linux VR users may want to opt into a Beta

Quoting: MatomboI'm now owing a Valve index but i sadly must admit that steamvr for linux is still more or less a beta overall:
Camera not working
Audio not working without tinkering
Mic not working without tinkering
Reprojection is causing headdache inducing flickering
And the constant rumbling bug in the controllers (i guess that's what they are refering to the "rare" stuck haptics bug, which isn't quite so rare)

However, despite this I'm havin a blast playing Serious Sam and Talos Principle und other games using proton ^^.
Still considering to upgrade my rig and getting an Index in time for Alyx.

Did you give it a try under Windows?
If so - is it better there?
Jep only thing broken in windows so far is that you can't adjust the camera refresh rate.

But i only played around on windows for one and a half day, so no exhaustive report here.

Reprojection works on AMD gpu's with Radv , but not on Nvidia.

But yeah , other points are valid.
I am on an amd gpu vega 56 on latest drivers (don't know the version number but I'm using manjaro)
What is Radv?

Quoting: Sojiro84I still got the old 4.19-GE-1 with the mfplat fixes built in luckily. So I will be using that for a while until games somehow really need a newer one.

It's s shame he had to remove it but I understand the reason.
you can install the fix seperatly if you want: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install [External Link] or https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-installcab [External Link]

We have some keys for 'Tank Maniacs' for those willing to test and give feedback

I'm interested in a key.
I'm looking for a Smash Bros. alternative for Linux and this looks just like it.
I can test on an nvidia optimus laptop as well as an AMD desktop. I have Manjaro Linux and 360, PS3, and Steam controlers.
And I'm about to give a party with a lot of nerds in 2 weeks where we can througly test the local multiplayer part.

I bought a vive some time ago but htc was not able to fix the screens so i used papal to get my money back and send them back the vive. However vr is awsome once you have tried it but with htc's support being crap and facebook being a no go i did not have a chance but wait.
But may is very soon jej!
