It appears Nvidia is lowering the cost-effectiveness of their cards to deter crypto-miners. I understand that GDDR6 is more expensive, but so are most bleeding edge components and you don't typically a price response this drastic in new hardware. What what Nvidia have done it would make more sense for a miner to pick up a 970 Ti than wait for the 2070 which, unlike it's higher-spec brother, isn't available yet for pre-order.
Either way, I'm just waiting to see what AMD does before I make a decision on my Fall 2018 build. Though I can't imagine the competition will be enough to deter me from the RTX 2070.

Quoting: liamdaweit's going to be interesting to see what Tropico is like with Limbic Entertainment developing it this timeThat's what I'm most interested to see. I have always been a spectator for Tropico games because they never looked all that interesting to me, but what is being promised for Tropico 6 actually has me excited enough to buy. Even if it's in early access to start.

But I just like to speculate. I'm excited to see how they execute the story and look forward to having a different theme to experience.

Quoting: melkemindI didn't see anything indicating which side the protagonist would be on. It's possible he might be on the Persian side fighting against the Muslims, which was the losing side, of course. It definitely could be. The developer does say "different perspectives" will be used, which could also mean that the story isn't following just one side. To further that, they do set the stage for both sides.
At this time the last Persian Empire was named the Sassanian empire. It was entering a period of conflicts and internal struggle. It was considered a giant with Achilles heel due to that. They ruled the land of Iraq at that time and had some disputes with some Arab tribes who refused their rule.My guess is still that Khalid ibn al-Walid will be the lead story just because of these bits.
On the other hand The Arab tribes united under the banner of the Islamic Caliphate. Seeking to unite all other Arab tribes and secure their new borders along with refusing the Sassanians rule on other Arabs, The conflict was inevitable and wars erupted between the two forces.
The game timeline introduces the events prior to the battle of "Al Qadissiyah". From there the events will progress leading to the main battle which occurred.Khalid ibn al-Walid was not involved in the Battle of Al Qadissiyah but most of his service and notoriety took place in the years leading up to it. He was not only the commander of the forces in Medina but also originally a rival of the Muslims from the Meccan tribe of Quraysh. This could explain the aforementioned 'different perspectives.'
The main battle will not be the core event instead it will be a part of the campaign timeline.
But I just like to speculate. I'm excited to see how they execute the story and look forward to having a different theme to experience.

They put a double space after "footage" in the title screen. Boo!
In all seriousness, this looks like a very exciting release. They have already brought a game to the table with immersive graphics and potentially a very rich combat system. If this were released today as is, as simply a LAN/Multiplayer combat game, I would definitely play it. And that speaks volumes to the potential of this game if they execute the story properly.
That's not to generalize gamers or say that a large portion of the community is Islamophobic, but some Islamophobia and hatred towards Muslims in the action/FPS gaming community is definitely alive. It will be interesting to see if the developers will approach certain topics with the western palette in mind, or if they will provide an unapologetically accurate depiction of early medieval Iraq. For the sake of historical context and immersion, I'm hoping for the latter.
All considered I am hyped for this game.

Knights of Light is a new game franchise based on the history of the middle east. It covers a time period from early medieval to late medieval ages which is a fresh and original scope that is NEVER introduced before. This is what I'm most excited for/concerned about. I know that I can enjoy a game with these themes because I love history. And this is indeed an undercovered subject not just in the gaming industry, but in western media in general. However, I have experienced a very aggressive narrative against Muslims in the gaming community, and I'm curious to see how that plays out here.
To provide more authentic references we have the consultation of an academic history professor from the University of Toronto who will cooperate with our writer to review and validate the project historical accuracy.

The main character is from a tribe known for its might and prowess in battles. The tribe was considered as a special force in the army and was lead by him and his brother. My vote is for Khalid ibn al-Walid [External Link] with Al-Qaqa ibn Amr al-Tamimi [External Link] as a very close runner-up.

I wonder if situations like this would be less common if there weren't so many "Linux for everything but games" people. I know quite a few Linux users who complain about game support, dual-booting with a pirated version of Windows 7 and never actually using their Linux version of Steam - even for titles with a Linux port. I strictly use VMs and the occasional Windows drive for games when there is absolutely no Linux port available/coming.

I certainly don't condone whatever hate he has received for this, but I disagree more the passive-aggressive tone he took with the entire Linux community. I'm glad I didn't spend any money on this game.

Also Linux Community - being abusive, demanding, rude to the few developers actually shipping games to your favourite OS isn't the way to go. It makes me regret ever shipping Linux versions.Very condescending comments from Garry. I have been in games development and content creation for years and one thing you learn quick, that I know Garry is aware of, is that there is always a rude, outspoken minority that does not represent the community.
they understand their position in this worldAnd as a developer, he knew as well. Any developer worth their salt should know the challenges of supporting a platform as well as that platform's market share. If facing these challenges wasn't something he was prepared to do, he shouldn't have supported Linux in the first place.
