The Virtual Programming port question is a really terrible.

The question really should be something like "Do you support the use of graphic API translation layers/shims in porting games to Linux?"

(Of course that would apply to DX9 Togl games which nobody seems to have an issue with.)

You were limited in your use of the product though. You were limited to a single physical copy, physical media typically had to be in the drive for the game to work. If that copy was lost, destroyed you lost your access to the game. Backup copies of the physical media weren't allowed, and were typically very difficult to make regardless. Physical media wasn't exactly what I'd call freedom.

(Also, offline mode works great with Steam.)

The idea of games as an explicit license rather than a physical thing has existed longer than internet distribution has existed. It's been that way since at least the early 90s, but physical ownership never gave you implicit rights over the thing you owned.

It's not really a loophole, and it's perfectly legal. If you could play the game for 14 days in the cooling-off period (as it's known elsewhere), and then get a refund any digital distribution would come crashing down as people got 2-week rentals for zero charge.

There are cases where games should be refunded, absolutely, but taking that to the opposite end of the spectrum is just as open to abuse. Don't buy a garbage game in the first place!

I cannot understand why it would require OpenGL 4, (excluding any extensions) this is mainly the feature equivalent of DirectX 11. The Windows version has DirectX 10 support which is on par with OpenGL 3.2 without extensions, maybe the performance would not be as good but it would still be playable.

I am having major issues with when using Alt-Tab, either the game will become unscaled in the top left corner of the screen or the game just crashes.
What card capable of running Bioshock doesn't support OpenGL 4?
