This guy isn't going to take the money and dig his own moon base out of reach of the law or just spend it on booze and sluts without consequences. He will continue developing for some time.

Quoting: razing32I mean that the worry to pay directly to developer is probably not well-founded in this case.Quoting: QuillThe game is backed by Austria funds, so the probability that the Mr. Madlener is scammer or loon is relatively low.Helped?Uhm , what do you mean by scam here ?

Minecraft bored me after like two days of playing. Just grind and grind and grind and I paid for it :(. Vintage Story is grind and grind and grind, but game is more believable.
Objects do not pop out of the thin air, but the process of creation is more sophisticated. You can not create mining pick by gluing three rocks and few sticks with mysterious goo while you are on the biological pause, ehm, but you need to do few more steps than just "do craft" (make molds, burn them, smelt ore {you can not use the wood cause it is not hot enough}, cast it and than wait till it get cold and than you glue it together).
You can not crush rock with bare hands or the wooden stick, but you need the pick.
The very big difference for me is that the Anego Studios is not Microsoft.
The game is backed by Austria funds, so the probability that the Mr. Madlener is scammer or loon is relatively low. I am happy that I red the article about the game here and bought it. The Vintage Story is obviously child of love.
I think the VS game is related to Minecraft as Sil to Angband... Both are "Moria" games, but Sil is way more complex and somehow closer to JRRT world settings.
If you are sick of Minecraft because of overdosing by it, you will not enjoy the VS either. It is "clone" and main activity in game is grinding and grinding and grinding.
It is not "they" said anymore.
I said and I tried to show you the differences. Helped?
