SteamOS Brewmaster update 2.63 has been pushed to brewmaster_beta, if you are opted into the beta on SteamOS you will get an updated Nvidia driver featuring Vulkan support.

ESSENCE is a surreal first-person exploration adventure which had me mesmerized when I first saw it on Kickstarter last year. It's back on the crowdfunding platform with a prototype, and there are also a few other campaigns there worth a look.

Well, this is awkward, Nvidia have also released a driver on Linux with Vulkan support. This leaves AMD to be the only desktop GPU vendor not to have one ready for testing on Linux.

The Talos Principle is a very popular puzzle game from Croteam, and they already have a Windows build out that uses Vulkan. We Linux gamers will need to wait a few days, but it will be fun to see.

Croteam are aware of the excitement and general interest in their titles running on Vulkan, and they have confirmed it officially on their website now too.

Jason Ekstrand, a developer hired by Intel has done a presentation about Vulkan at FOSDEM 2016. The slides are interesting, but not too in-depth to overwhelm you.

Both The Talos Principle and Serious Sam 3 should be getting updates with the Vulkan API, and Serious Sam 4 will also use it.

It's been a while since I last dug up my 760 and did some benchmarking, so I decided that I would run some to celebrate the last days of 2015. I've picked some new games this time around to show the performance of both the open source and the proprietary drivers.

A developer from Logic Artists has shown renewed interest in porting their Early Access stealth game to Linux, though still being careful not to make any concrete commitments.

The game was made available for Linux shortly after arriving on Steam Early Access last year, but is now officially released and available on Steam, Humble Store and GOG.

The folks at SCS Software released a big patch for Euro Truck Simulator 2, along with a Scandinavia DLC, so I decided it was a good time to revisit the game and give some commentary on it and the expansion.

I have now spent two weeks using the open source Nouveau driver on my desktop and I have some results here. Let's see how well Nouveau did for me!

The expansion pack, Road to Gehenna, will consist of four episodes with some of the most challenging puzzles yet. Road to Gehenna will be set in the same world, but will explore a new society with additional characters.
