Lugaru HD and Penumbra Overture open source!

By - | Views: 9,840

Thanks to the success of the Humble Indie Bundle (which took in over a million dollars USD) the first two games have been open sourced with Lugaru HD and Penumbra Overture.

To play them you will still need to buy them, as I understand it the source of the game engines are free, but not the game itself (so people can fork the engines to make new open-source games or improve the engines for the current games). So you need to buy the game for the media and art assets to actually play it.

The other two games that have promised to open their sources are currently working on it.

You can see the announcement about Lugaru here and Penumbra here.
