Doom 3 source code released

By - | Views: 3,892
Well folks that moment has come, ID has released the next set of source code to the GPL, this time for Doom 3!

Hopefully we can see some popular open source games have some interesting engine upgrades as a result of this. It would be interesting to see Doom 3 itself get some updates too, who knows what the future holds!

Interesting that it is on TTimo's github rather than something id controls itself. Great news BTW. :)

If you are interested in hacking on this you are better off checking out http://www.iodoom3.org/ from the guys who do http://ioquake3.org/ (http://icculus.org guys). TTimos github will remain the reference version that other people fork off, he will not be merging anything except architecture stuff to ensure it runs on current platforms and that's it.
