Ensign 1 gets a new direction!

By - | Views: 5,064
The space shooter Ensign 1 is getting a new direction after the game not being too popular.

onionman the lead developer stated;
"Hey Everyone! So I was driving to Comic-Con the other day, and I was thinking to myself, what new direction can I take with Ensign-1 to make it super popular, because the current direction of a mission based story just isn't cutting it. Then I thought about it, I thought of games like DayZ and Sins of a Solar Empire, and decided to work on making a randomly generated solar system filled with random ship spawns, and pirates that will randomly warp in to try and take you out!

I'll leave in the single player missions, and hope to return to them someday, but for now, this is the new direction I'll be working on. To that end, I set to work cleaning up the server and multiplayer code, and have some basic functionality to show you all."

The newer cockpit they use is infinitely better than the old one and actually makes the game look a lot nicer to play.

Sounds like fun, I do much prefer multiplayer over single player a lot of the time.

Interesting. Personally, I'm still pretty interested in the mission based story though.

As long as it works with single-player. I still like a lot of plot in my games, but this idea does not sound that bad either.

Saying that the sales aren't doing very well is not a very nice way of putting it. We're actually in the top 10 selling games on Desura, so for our distribution platform we aren't doing bad at all.
However, I don't have the budget to market the game, so I was looking to make a type of game that would better market itself.

Well maybe i got the wrong end of the stick by this in your text "the current direction of a mission based story just isn't cutting it", that to me meant for you it isn't doing well.
