New RPG From Tropico Developers Could Come To Linux

By - | Views: 8,136
So news today is that the developers behind Tropico are making an RPG game called Victor Vran, it looks like it's an indie title too being done without funds from a publisher.

I asked the developer directly via twitter and got an encouraging response!

@gamingonlinux No platforms officially announced, but with our engine already running on Linux, very likely.

So not 100% confirmed but "very likely".

There isn't much information yet as it has only just been shown at Gamescom but expect us to tell you more when we have it.

It just feels like the snowball is reaching that point in the hill where nothing will stop it now. I think icing on the cake would be Portal 2 from Valve. But it sure seems like nearly every developer and their dog has their engine working in linux now.

I'd like to see more support from Unreal, right enough. What's the script with them anyway? A couple of games have been ported (Killing Floor and Dungeon Defenders), but is there no support directly or something? Do U3 games have to be "worked on" more extensively to support linux?

Epic is a big fan of Microsoft's Xbox so I doubt that the company will be making any moves to make the lives of Linux users even more blissful. Portal 2 is already confirmed for Linux and Valve is steadfast in its support of the platform. What would be the icing on cake for me would be GOG finally selling games with Linux clients and by extension CD Projekt RED bringing The Witcher series in its entirety as well as Cyberpunk 2077 to Linux natively.

Microsoft had a contract with EPIC, so EPIC really didn't have a say. Haha.
Any source for the Witcher being ported? Anything recent?

I am talking hypotheticals here. I didn't say anything is actually happening, although I wish it did. :'(
