Thanks to the public financial reports of Take-Two Interactive it looks like the newest game in the Borderland series could see a Linux release and is listed as a platform for the game.
At this link here you will see this information:
It's even listed in the downloadable PDF of the financial report, so that's pretty official.
We have reached out to Take-Two Interactive for confirmation on this. Hopefully it wasn't a mistake, but it's hard to see someone manually typing in "Linux" by accident.

This is extremely exciting as it's a massively popular game series, and if it turns out to be true it could mean the others may see a release too.

And those are just from my Steam games list. There are probably other, older games like Descent 2 and Dungeon Keeper 2 that I have lying around somewhere in box form.
call me crazy but for most of your list i also disliked the 2nd one in comparison to the first. they were not bad games at all but just didnt have the "wow" effect of the first game at all but were merly gutless successors to their inspiring and innovative parents (especially true for portal2, borderlands2, NV, and crysis2).
to keep it ontopic i didnt feel like borderlands 2 was much of an improvement over borderlands 1. the pc controlls were worse due to more focus on consoles which was particularly evident in the bad inventory that sometimes wouldnt even register mouseclicks. of course it was better in many aspects and just.. more of everything that was good about borderlands1. but thats what i would expect off an addon (and i rarely buy those) and not of a new game. i literally hate what is done in the Fifa series or CoD and i feel like this is happening here all over again. i see that third installment of borderlands and all i can think of how good having a fresh engine and new characters to interact with for a successor feels. i dont expect something to turn into a racing game all of the sudden but i expect something to happen like it did in halflife2, oblivion, skyrim, fallout3 when i shall spend full prize on a game.

So apparently there are 3 or 4 people on the entire planet who is excited by the Linux announcement, they all dual boot and also pirate the game instead of paying for it. I don't know why I keep reading comments on articles like that on IGN. :/

downright funny to see each and every one pointing out ?next? gen. except their next gen was obsolete 6 months before release. this console gen is probably worst in history by miles as it is the first gen that brings nothing to the table. it's cheap "build it your self PC from parts taken out of basement junk". i was console gamer my self and when i saw where it leads... time to sell everything and move on pc

Save yourself, do what I've decided to do and never go to that site again. Don't read the comments, it's a lot like megagames, but with moderated comments. No less idiotic comments though. "It's not "next gen" if it's not on a bloody stinking console, it's just not good enough, linux? wtf is that?"
I'm still waiting for Witcher 3 (pleased with the Witcher 2 port so far, I seem to get good performance out of it where others seem not to) and Shogun 2 Total War. Plus two Kickstarters, The Mandate and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
