Title: New on the homepage - recent reviews and initial thoughts
Liam Squires-Hand 4 hours ago
Since news comes in fast, our reviews / initial thoughts articles can get a bit buried. We're trying out something completely new, with a scrollable carousel (responsive down to mobile too!) to show off recent reviews and thoughts up the top of the website. These sit below the articles we've set as featured.

Let me know what you think and give feedback here.

Don't want it? Good news, you can bookmark direct these pages instead of the homepage - they just have the pure feeds no featured stuff:

OR

Doesn't appear to work for me. Tried both with and without uBlock and without it I get an extra white bar.

Edit: just for clarity this comment is for the two links, but those shouldn't have it? On the actual main page I just see the two articles with images, but that was always there, right?

That's really odd, I've tested logged in / logged out across Firefox and Chrome and Mobile (iOS) and they all show the new "Reviews & Thoughts" bar under the two main featured articles before the latest news.

No, those links should not have any extras that's the point of them - just the feeds on there. This is specifically the home page.

You're saying you see nothing?

This is how it should look on Desktop:

External Media: You need to be logged in to view this.

I've even cleared the Cloudflare cache, there's no reason it shouldn't appear unless you somehow have a browser rule somewhere to block the section somehow.

Ah, ok, so uBlock off on the main page gives me that. I also get an empty space below the "dismissable notification bar". So apparently it got removed in conjunction with other stuff that I collapse in the page (like social bars).

I guess this ties in with the question about how you can make the site better. For me that would be to make this things more uniquely identifiable so I easily remove things that are of no use to me and clean up the site a bit.

Update: fixed the delayed scrolling on Chrome (le sigh - browser quirks eh).

Weird, so it got caught in a ublock rule you manually set? How would you suggest I deal with that? The CSS class names for the section are unique so it's a bit odd it got caught in anything.

I'm basically just picking the elements to remove and sometimes that has side effects. I'll have a look when I'm not at work.
