GOL Asks Again: What Have You Been Playing Recently?

There's been a lot of new releases recently with no signs of slowing down, so what have you been investing your time in recently?

Personally I've spent more time than I thought I would have in Civilization V. It hooked me in a little more than I thought it would...just one more turn!

I've also just picked up the XCOM expansion in the sale, and look forward to seeing how poorly my soldiers have trained with their shocking aim some more.

Sadly I would like to invest some more time in Planetary Annihilation smashing moons into a base someone spent an hour building, but wow it's so utterly broken right now it's not worth repeatedly closing it and launching it again to see if the UI decides to show up in-game. I hope they fix this soon. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I didn't play very much recently (due to my main rig not being at home), but I did some Serious Sam 3, and Kerbal Space Program. There is still the unity mouse bug in the last one, btw.

Liam, I had also the UI bugs in planetary annihilation, but with a little searching, I found 2 workarounds which ran quite good for me (I didn't tried it again since ~2 months, so I am not sure if it's still working).
I can't tell exactly how the patches worked (those are on my gaming rig), but one involved the edition of one of the UI files to relaunch the connection to the UI server, and the other one (which worked better IMO) was to use the -software-ui parameter, or whatever.
It's sad it doesn't runs well out of the box, though.

been on a nostalgika trip and played coop with a long friend of mine - Hammerwatch and Trine2.
we may proceed to Forced and Dungeon Defenders, which we picked up for later use. Alone i played
some Eldrich and Duke Nukem 3D .. but to be honest i hardly play anything more than some hours
before stopping to do so (unless its coop). in general im hoping that quakelive goes back to
linux support (or fails hard with their steam release, so that the comunity goes back to Q3)

The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief and Sanctum 2. When I finish The Raven, I'll either play BS5 or Reversion.

Playing the original Bioshock through wine as well after I bought the trilogy on sale for £7, going to wait for the Linux port of Infinite to play that though, but since I doubt the first one will ever be ported, may as well play that now.

Also, welcome back Liam!

Portal 2, which is as good as the first one, but only in short doses: it does get harder later on, so I don't fancy doing more than a few rooms each session.

Electronic Super Joy, which is SMB-hard but the amazing soundtrack just makes you want to keep going.

The Swapper, which was nice and relatively relaxing until this $&#!ing room on Asteroid Excavation Site 7 which has had me stumped for over a week now (and I'm too proud to look at a walkthrough).

Many of the Artifex Mundi adventures, which are a quite good mix of traditional adventure and hidden-object game - always play on expert mode for a semi-decent challenge.

Blue Toad Murder Files (under Wine) which is fun because of the voices (all done by one guy) but it's already getting a bit boring in part 2 out of 6.

Still trying to summon the energy to go back and finish a bunch of games that I've left half-done or almost done: Hexcells Plus (amazing puzzle game, just like the original Hexcells), Avernum (99% done) & Avadon (~50% done and don't want to start over), Bard's Tale (still has an occasional graphics glitch which slows the game down), Stacking (man, I gotta stop starting new games before finishing older ones...)

And finally trying to resist the urge to start Witcher 2 until it's out of "beta" - I really liked the first one so it's hard.

Akai Ito on PCSX2.

I find that I'm buying the games to support Linux gaming, and there's not enough time to play them all, so I've seen many intros and tutorials, really just to register the game as a Linux purchase.

Keep coming back to Duke Nukem 3D and Half Life , easy to pick up and just carry on.
Nightmares from the deep was better than I expected.

Also playing Darkplaces Quake, Doom 3 BFG (Linux Engine installed via PlayDeb)
Goat Simulator is fun.
Had a go at driving my "Euro Truck" around Birmingham, I need 'L' plates.

Trying out some GOG games too, with some old familiar games, Hocus Pocus , Flatout 2.
Waiting to see if they wrap Blood for Linux.
There was a sale on, so I did try Dungeon Keeper2 (via PlayOnLinux) which was nice.

I recently got Sanctum 2 on steam during a sale they had and it's so fun. Haven't played multiplayer yet as I'm learning. Also, got Metro Last Light since it was on sale and having fun with that, too. Playing Team Fortress 2 as well. But what's had my attention the most for the last 10 years is Unreal Tournament 2004.

Quoting: feketenapSurprisingly - the Witcher 2. After the patches it runs like a champ! It's a great game.

And my generic dualshock gamepad works like a charm, thumbs up for the devs.
