Aspyr Media Are Teasing A New Launch Tomorrow

By - | Views: 45,126

You like new ports right? Well Aspyr Media have something up their sleeves for tomorrow, looks like we could be busy.

Posting on their facebook was this:

Hey! Do you like video games? Because we’re launching something new for our Mac and Linux users tomorrow!

Posted by Aspyr Media on Monday, 20 July 2015

Oh boy! Begin wild speculation. What do you think it will be you fine Linux gamer folk?

I'm always impressed by the quality of Aspyr ports, and I'm sure this will be no different.

Quoting: ajgpI did enquire with CDPR about the W3 steamos / Linux version at the end of June and the response was that they were working on a SteamOS version but had no announced date as it was still a work in progress. But there was no clues as to if it was inhouse or with an external porting company.

Shouldn't a VP port be way easier then this?

VP port would certainly be quick and 'easy' though how good the end product would be is open to debate, while I had no major issues with W2, certainly nothing game breaking many did have issues to start with.

Also if CDPR also intends on releasing Cyberpunk for Linux as well it would be easier in the long run to do a proper engine port rather than a wrapper that would be specific to W3 (There was an excellent article on this site a while ago about the different types of port)

If they would be taking the less easy way, porting, this could totally be worth full price for me, and maybe even an upgrade from my GTX660. :)

After reading their post yet another time, I got unsure if this really is about a game.
"we’re launching something new for our Mac and Linux users tomorrow!", that might be a shop or a launcher or something else as well?

I hope it's a automated drone system which goes around giving Linux and Mac users massages and cake. :D

Quoting: FergleFerglesonGiven my experiences so far with Aspyr, they could release an empty text file and I'm going to buy it first-day, and then pick-up whatever text-file DLC they want to release. :)
Sure, but it has to be well priced.

Quoting: FredOWhat about Evolve, do we know who's porting that? That's also a MAC/Linux port.
Virtual Programming, IIRC.

How to buy a game to the support the porting company the best way I can ? ( in this case Aspyr Media )

Most important make sure it counts as Linux sell (buying from Linux, playing on Linux).
AFAIR they've got a shop themselves, this would probably be the optimal solution.

KOTOR II is most likely guess.

Hmmm, but why were they tweeting about Rage?
