A developer has posted on the Gauntlet Steam forums about Gauntlet: Slayer Edition, a free upgrade to Gauntlet. In the same post the developer noted that the SteamOS version has now been cancelled due to limited resources.

So, that's that then, no Gauntlet for the penguin crowd it seems. I've done a quick scan of the Steam forums and it seems some people did pre-purchase the game due to the earlier promise of a Linux port. You might already be familiar with my attitude towards pre-orders and pre-purchases but I'll give you a small reminder: DON'T FRICKING DO IT.
This should be a good example of what could happen if you do not follow the mantra "don't buy before it's out". Hopefully the folks who bought early can get the game refunded. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

This must stop now, why do you make a kickstarter selling to people your game will be supported to any platform and suddenly when you are to release it, you realize that you won't make the goal.
This mean don't say something you can do when you know you cannot do it. If their having problem with just the windows release, focusing all the man power to the windows why you select PC.
This happen the same with big company and small one, just don't say something you will do it.
The funny part of this if I use the same way to my job I will fired in one instant oh I said I will do it but I can't. To me Kickstarter is becoming laugh of supporters.

Had some fun with C64 with Gauntlet multiplayer in '80. Had more fun with Gauntlet with NES emulator with my wife's 6 years old girl. She though had great time! With that in mind, I am not troubled this game is not released for Linux. Kids will be happy enough with the NES version while I get my retro fix :D

Amd based laptop... Right from the start laptops, more often than not, and because they are often built with custom hardware, have specific drivers made by the builders, even on windows. It's the case with my DELL laptop. You can't downlad a driver from AMD and hope it will work (on windows), you have to use the DELL certified driver. Must be the same with Lenovo. Knowing this, if the cie doesn't support Linux you get exposed to many sorts of weird behaviors.
Take into account the state of Amd gpu drivers, even for a tower... Just take look at the benchmarks... AMD is getting better but still has much to do to be on par with NVidia.
If Lenovo doesn't release their specs, there is not much Linux can do.

Do you know what happens when you, being a Linux user, buy a game and then go on to play it on Windows? Maybe THAT had an impact on their decision to not continue with the Linux port. And hint: it's not limited to just Gauntlet.
Maybe if people stopped dual-booting and buying Windows games all the damn time, our percentage of market share on the Steam survey results wouldn't be sitting at less than half of what it used to be, and devs wouldn't be pointing at it as a reason to ignore us.

Inoki, you must have a serious, unfortunate problem with your hardware. I'm running L4D2 on my HD6950 from 2010/2011 and it runs far better on Linux with the open source drivers (!) than it does on windows. Not that it really matters, for in Windows I have 120-150fps and in Linux I have >180-200.
Also, your problem with LibreOffice does sound really strange. I mean, Ubuntu is a very, very broad distribution, many people use it and I've not heard of this being a big problem.
But alas, I'm not using Ubuntu since 2011, so maybe I've missed something.

Remember that we were all new once, we all get frustrated with Linux issues, so give people some credit for trying Linux eh?
I've been outspoken about Linux issues a lot in the past, some things to this day still piss me off about it to no end, but I still prefer it over Windows.
