We have been treated to some more retro gold here folks, as the Falcon games are now on Linux thanks to the team at GOG.
Included in the bundle is:
- Falcon
- Falcon A.T.
- Falcon Gold (featuring the complete collection of updated versions of Falcon 3.0 , MiG-29, Operation: Fighting Tiger and Art of the Kill dogfighting video)
- Falcon 4.0 (version 1.08, added as a part of the bonus goodies pack)
I don't know how well it works, but there's an overhaul mod for Falcon 4 here, and it looks pretty decent.
Now that's a pretty great selection of games there, so do any of you plan on picking them up?

Hmmm. I own Falcon Gold and Falcon 4. I could never get the latter to run properly under Wine. So for that, this might be worthwhile. Soooo many hours in Falcon 3.0 as a kid, though. So many hours.

Falcon 4 has probably the most dedicated user base, with mods that put some "professional" developers to shame.
But is really old, the cockpit view is still 2D and you need some big mods to bring it to modern standards. And the learning curve is too steep to the casual sim player like me.
The flight simulators with most balanced characteristics, the Third Wire ones, have been abandoned by its developer, witch is now focusing on the more lucrative (mind you) Android/iOS markets. They had done some weird design decisions, like keeping multiplayer, air-refueling and ground rearmament out of witch is otherwise a very pleasant sim to fly.
Is good to rear that GoG is working in flight simulators. I will look for the day they launch the most complete flight sim I ever played: Super EF2000.

Sweet! I think I still have that massive Falcon 4.0 manual. Never did have much time to play it, but I did play the hell out of F-15 Strike Eagle (Atari 8-bit) and the original Falcon on the Atari ST, pretty sure Strike Eagle was the predecessor to the rest of the Falcon games.
