The very cool stealth game from Frozenbyte now has a release window, they developer have said it will release in May and they told me that Linux should be day-1!

@gamingonlinux Yeah that's the plan!

They have confirmed the price should be about $14.55, due to the special event they did previously which reduced the price for everyone.

I'm really excited to give this one a go, as it looks awesome, but I couldn't get the beta to work right. I am hoping the Linux release is nice and polished.

About the game
Shadwen is a stealth-action game where the only rule is to remain unseen. Stay hidden – or the ruthless guards will kill you on sight!

Shadwen, an assassin on a quest to kill the king, has a chance encounter with an orphaned girl, Lily. She follows Shadwen on her dangerous journey, but when the ruthless guards get too close, Shadwen must take action right in front of Lily’s eyes.

Will Shadwen risk the girl’s budding trust by resorting to violence, or try and find another way while keeping her real purpose concealed?

To kill or not to kill – that is the question.

See their full release announcement here.

Wow, that was fast. Or were they nearly finished with it when they released the demo?

Welp, guess I'd best quickly inform them that the demo is completely non-functional on my machine, might delay the Linux port by a day or two.

What does "welp" mean? I see it all the time these days, but can't understand the difference between welp and well. Is there one?

Really looking forward to this - looks superb. I love stealth games that have a strong story and this looks like ticking all the right boxes. Like Thief, Mark of the Ninja and Ico all rolled into one!

I was really happy to see them release a demo and I wish them success but stealth games aren't for me. I tried three times to enjoy the demo but just couldn't do it.

This one certainly looks fun and could be good to play with steam controller. Looking forward to it.

Quoting: MGOidI hope this new title work better than their previous titles. Trine 1 and 2 have low performance and the 3 refuses to launch with radeonsi driver in a R9 290.

Uhm, really? As for me the radeonsi is perfectly working regarding all three Trine-titles and the framerates are also good. Have you upgraded the Mesa-stack to 11.3?

Having tried to play the demo and getting less than stellar results (the tutorial videos gave me a blank screen, so I wasn't able to learn what things did), plus what I saw of it on the livecast a while back, this is definitely not a day-one purchase for me. I won't be surprised if it requires several patches following the launch.

"Welp" at the beginning of a sentence like this has a bit more of a resigned tone to it. More like "We're in this situation now, might as well get on with it" than "well", which at least to me has a "time to get down to business" in a more proactive way.

As a stand-alone word, "welp" has a connotation of "there's nothing more to say", thus the "p" providing an abrupt stop to the more open-ended "well", which is typically a little more drawn out. This is the more common usage, far as I know.

I always though "welp" was an exclaimed version of something akin to "oh dear". See also: yoink, gah, urk, eek, etc. :)
