The release of Mad Max [Steam, Feral Interactive] for Linux is fast approaching this week (20th!) and Feral have now updated their website with the minimum and recommended system specifications.

System requirements
Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit / SteamOS 2.0

Minimum
Intel i5 3.4 GHz or AMD FX8350 64-bit processor
8GB RAM
2GB Nvidia 660ti graphics card or better (driver version 367.35)

Recommended
Intel i7 64-bit 3.6 GHz processor
16GB RAM
4GB Nvidia 970 graphics card or better (driver version 367.35)

AMD & Intel GPU's are not currently supported. Since Mesa has made amazing progress this year, I am hoping it won't be too long before they can be pushed up to supported status. The most likely reasoning is that the current stable release of Mesa probably doesn't have high enough OpenGL version support.

How do you think your PC is going to handle Mad Max? Looks like the Recommended requirements are pretty high this time which is a sign that Feral is preparing us for a heavy game.

Will you be picking up a copy? I will hopefully do a livestream of the game once it has released, so keep an eye on our Twitch channel. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I wonder what will be the actual difference between i5 6600K and whatever the clock equivalent i7 is, i.e. how badly the number of cores will influence fps, and why those are higher than on Windows ("that much higher" in case of recommended and GPU).

I'm right between the minimum and recommended requirements, so I should be OK, but I'll probably have to keep the more intensive visual features dialed back.

GO ARKHAM KNIGHT!! GO!!!
Arkham Knight was a flop on Windows because of the shoddy state of the port. There's very little chance it will come to Linux.

Phew - my old trusty gtx680 is still valid.
Keep working baby, until I am ready to upgrade for the Vive! :)

I am curious about those min spec, is the i5 3.4ghz I assume means base 3.4 clock; does that mean a i5 that turbos to 3.4 is underspec technically or is the 3.4ghz the max turbo required. The windows spec specifies an i5-650, which is quite an old cpu and only dual core to boot. Some more clarity is needed on the CPU requirements as pure clockspeed is just not accurate enough as a benchmark. Not to mention single core performance on newer CPUs can be better at lower clocks than older CPUs.

I have a i5 4670k; and so if the 3.4 refers to base clock im right on th limit fro min spec; if the 3.4 refers to max possible clock then i can hit 3.8 and as such would be slightly higher than min. (Not counting the fact i have over clocked to 4.4 Turbo)

Quoting: coryrj19951Hmm I have the minimum proccessor, the 8350, but I do have the recomended RAM and GPU. Might run decent. Can't wait for it :D

i have below minimum cpu by description :D FX 8320

but i have it at 4,4ghz, so it should be good enough :)

They improved it quite a bit.
Steam reviews went from average/54% (overall) to very good/81% (new reviews).
(By the way a pro agrument for the "new reviews" system on Steam.)

I would really like it if they put a footnote of if your CPU can get XYZ points in a ZYX benchmark then you meet min/rec spec.

An FX 8350 is pretty hardcore for minimum specs. It is pretty close to the min and rec specs for the Windows so I don't think it's legit to put much heat on Feral about it. Although an 8350 is recommended for Windows and Min for Linux. The difference between the min and rec for Intel is 200 mhz, but AMD doesn't even have a recommended processor. I have an 8350, hopefully my GTX 980 will offset my cpu. Still shocking they can't even recommend a 4GHZ 8 core cpu for a video game.

Sigh... Stuck at 4GB until I upgrade my motherboard (AMD zen in January? ).

That is, unless someone knows how to find some Intel compatible 4GB DDR2 sticks? I would *really* be interested. That is, if the price is decent.
